Default Butterfield Double - Feb 16th

Anyone planning to do the Butterfield Double February 16th? Registration opens in December, no specific date mentioned on the site.

Anyone want to pull a double noob along? This will be my first double. I just did my first 150 mile ride and it went well. 11 hours (including breaks) with an average speed of 16.1 MPH. I left Pasadena at 4:50AM and arrived at the train station in San Diego at 3:50PM. I think I will be ready.

I've been tempted by this before. I did 140 miles early this year in about 10 hours. I figure I could complete 200 with the right pace -- maybe 16 hours assuming I get weaker as I go. I did the 140 miles alone so I suppose I could do better with a small pace line.

I'm wondering if this would be too soon to recover from for Vision Quest for me?

two weeks before is ideal. Plenty enough time to recover and yet close enough that the extra conditioning will stay with you until vision quest.

We have the usual folks signed for this ride. I've yet to register as I haven't done any long distance mileage in a while. (and I hate riding in the cold), but I'll probably start picking it up in the near future. Depends to how the new job goes.I'll commit in a week or two.

Are any of you doing the Planet Ultra charity ride on the 15th?

Wow I just pulled the trigger on the Butterfield and Solvang Doubles. Looks like '08 is going to be a big year. Need to start training.

Cool, did you figure out a route? Sorry I was unable to convert my route into something useful for you.
