Default My new toy

Just picked it up on Tuesday a Trek 1.2. I know its not the top of the line but since I'm not going to be racing just riding once in a while and training in the house.

Really good bike for the money. I've got a few friends on the 1.2 and they love it.

I just did my first ride today. Such a huge difference from my FS the little tires made me nervous when i got crossed up on some cracks in the road. But I was able to ride the hill back up by my house with ease.

The speed and power on a road bike is awesome comming from a full suspension. I just started road riding 2 weeks ago and love it.

I was nervous riding with the skinny tires at first too. After a while you realize how stable the bike is, and the tires are pretty robust on abuse. Also I'm learning to hop over small obstacles on the road. Easy to do since road bikes are so light!

Thanks guys, yesterday when I rode it was just about 5 miles but today I took it out again on the southbay bike path (http://efgh.com/bike/bayshore.htm) I haven't picked out a odometer yet but from my house to the silver strain and back was about 25-30 miles so now my quads are killing me. But my fat but needs the exercise.

I started road riding about 2 months ago and my fitness and has blown through the roof and my mtn rides are 100x's more fun, I feel like I can ride way more stuff now so I try to do one road ride of about 2 hours a week and at least one dirt ride a week. (Don't want my beauties getting jealous of the new bike now do we. lol)

Just remember, road bikes are happier (and more stable) the faster they go!

Just watch out for gnarly pot holes... and gravel... and wet pavement... and well you get the point.

Enjoy!!

Feel the same way except it is not the skinny tires that make me nervous, It is all the wide cars

It might be fun to blast down a sand dune with the back wheel on fire.

You might think so, but no. I got a concussion the last time I tried.
