![]() -2008 Specialzed Tarmac Expert- size 54 regular gearing 16.44 lbs I purchased her at Rock N Road Mission Viejo. I wana thank Terry Best and the other guys for helping me out ALLL today on the purchase, swapping parts, fitting and getting everything else done!! The build is stock from the website exept: -traded alloy bars to some carbons -traded Fulcrum 5 wheels to MAVIC KSYRIUM ES aniversary edition. -Look KEO sprint pedals http://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCBkModel.jsp?spid=34008 Everything else is the new Ultegra SL with a Dura-Ace rd. I went on a short ride today and the bike is great!! Amazingly fast and smooth, can't wait to the race it! I think the bike is defintely faster than me... atleast the colors are!! Pictures of course:: BTW, please no gay comments. I've already heard all of them in the other threads and your probably not a good enough rider anyways!!! |

Great choice Matt. I demo'ed one of these and rode it 75 miles. It was the fastest 75 miles I've ever done on a road bike. That bike is Q U I C K !!!
I prefered the Roubaix because I do longer rides, but if I was looking for a bike to race this would be at the top of the list. You picked a winner. Now get out there and train!

Congrats! The graphics are sick. It looks fast just standing still! Nice choice on the wheel set. I look forward to a group ride of like minded SCTR's.
Pain Freak what's with the desire for a plush Roubaix? Pain and suffering is the game so Roubaix ain't the name! (But, I agree the geometry is comfortable.) Simon Last edited by lkn2ryd; 11-08-2007 at 07:09 PM. Reason: wanted to add a note to PF |

Just remember that if you spend too much time on it the next time you take your Turner to South Mountain you will die because of loss of skills..just ask Mr. Freak...

Don't listen to
The road bike is going to make you a superior MTBer. (Don't worry Dean I still love ya' ) Seriously killer bike. Nice job. You are going to love the speed of flying down the road. I love slicing through car and being on the open road. Just wait till you start putting in the long miles >100 miles. It's a great feeling. Addictive I must say.

I don't think I'll a crit yet, maybe a couple Tours and short TRI's first. Yo Ross, the wheels were kind of a last minute upgrade at the time. They are soo sexy looking with the carbon and red hubs. As for South Mountain, I think If ride their a couple times a month my skills will still improve as that place is more technical than most places here in socal!! |

I've seen more and more carbon bikes at the crit races. One big crash resulted in two alum bikes with cracks and a steel bike with a dent on the top tube that basically ruined the bike,the two carbon bikes luckily came out fairly well, not unscathed, but still rideable. Later in another race their was another crash where a guy on a brand new Colnago C50 took out 4 other riders in a turn, only one bike was toast, yep, the most expensive bike in the whole damn crit, the C50.
Specialized does have a fair warranty program, not the best but fair.

Update on the TARMAC::
I've already put 160miles on the bike in the 10 days I've owned it. I luckily, feel comfy naturally on the bike from day one, no aches or pains. The road riding in Arizona is great. I've done a few rides cruising in Scottsdale. I've also climbed to the towers of South Mountain(same place we mountain bike). Its a 7 mile climb with up to 13% grade. Comming down this grade is probably just as fun as descending in the dirt, 40+ mph. Another ride I have done is in the east valley (Usery Pass) along the Salt River. Few cars and basically just you and the desert with some great hills. I have lots of respect for road riding now that I have a few solids rides under me. I look at road biking as fitness and speed. I will never lose the mountain biking touch though. I already have some races planned out for the upcomming season, even a time trial I'm considering. I'm looking forward to comming back to Socal and riding with the road bikers here on STR. |
