I am writing this for Shannon, we had so much fun this week that she decided she wanted to keep up her momentum and go out for a solo ride on her local trail this morning.
As she was finishing up the single track there is a small bridge maybe 2.5 feet wide and just high enough up off the ground that if you try to dab down you can't reach the dirt. Apparently she felt herself loosing her balance and when she went to put her foot down she ended up rolling off the bridge and onto her shoulder. ![]() Somehow she managed to pick herself up while I'm sure she was in excruciating pain and start the hike out to the fireroad. Fortunately at some point another rider came by and took her to the emergency room. She was in so much pain (the Shannon I know has a very high tolerance for it) that she asked the doctor's to put her under while they re-set her fractured shoulder. OUCH! She's at home now knocking back the painkillers so hopefully she can sleep tonite. I'm writing this for her because she can't type, her biggest priority right now is to find out how long she'll be off the bike? How long a recovery time can she expect? Shannon, we're sending you quick healing vibes from the southland and hope you're back up and riding very soon!

I'm very sorry to hear about the accident. It's particularly painful when you hear about one of our female grasshoppers going down. Healing vibes from the whole tribe... she'll be missed while on medical leave.

Wow Shannon, Sorry to hear your down and what a way to go down. Thank Goodness you ran into another rider! My mom broke her shoulder and it was at least a week before she had any time with-out pain. This will be one of those times your gonna need those pain killers!
Healing vibes from the Adams Family!

Sorry to hear about your crash--mucho healing vibes out to you.
I hate bridges for just that reason. I went off a bridge last year and messed up my right shoulder really bad. I never went to see a doc about it so I don't know exactly what I did, but it still isn't 100%. I still walk most bridges because I still haven't overcome it mentally. Get better soon!!

I've been out for 2 months so far due to a "broken shoulder" but Friday I was able to ride on the street for the first time. If she doesn't need surgery and she doesn't need Physical Therapy then it shouldn't be more than 6 to 8 weeks.
