Anybody know the OFFICIAL version of what happened to the guy who was medivaced out of the 24 hour race on Saturday afternoon? I've heard about 100 un-official versions...

Gene must be whipped to have stayed away from the STR boards for so long.

A rider went down on the section after the boulder, just as that downhill section starts. Its' rutty and loose. He was sitting 20 feet or so as the DH starts. They had 1 guy flagging riders as they came through to let us know that there was a rider down. I went by and was told to slow down and as I went by, there was 1 girl tending to him. By the time Treve went on his lap. That's the lap that the race was stopped. Treve had to wait about 25 min or so before he could go. He was stopped at the section where the rider was down. Others at the 1st and 2nd check points.

Turned out that his handle bar went into his leg and cut him up pretty bad. From what I heard from others, he was bleeding badly. The officials stopped the race so he could be medivac out. Dont know if he was carried farther down the track, cause where he was, there was no rome to land a helicopter. Once the helicopter cleared the course, the race resumed. If you were by the section where he went down, they allowed you to come in and hand over the lap to your next rider and then continue to the 1st check point where riders were already waiting. Made for interesting lap times.

Crap. That's a deep cut. Did something on his bar cut him like a long bolt or did he get impaled on a bar with no barend caps?

Sounds like a freak accident. Hope he's okay.

neil was about the 4th guy stopped above him. they had to hike down to him then load him on the halo. the guy as he went by was actually telling the group sorry for stopping the race. Neil got pretty cold up top in the wind and rain...
