Keith, so bummed to hear about your arm. I have a similar scar on my arm, with a plate in screws still in it, the docs pretty much told me the same thing, that was six years ago, and I have full use of my arm, so keep your chin up!

I've busted one wrist 4 times and the other 3. Doc told me I'd never have full use of my left wrist and at the most I might be able to lift around 10 pounds. They were wrong.I can lift just fine although not as strong as I'd like I get by fine. I think you will too. Good luck, my brother. Please keep us updated.

That's BS. You need to get yourself a real Doctor! You need to get yourself to Kerlan Jobe. Those guys are the best of the best! I'm not kidding. It's worth the second opinion if you can get in. I've broken pretty much everything, and these guys are the absolute best.

Keith,

You are never going to get as old as me if you keep this sh*t up! Just remember that the human body is incredibily resillient... don't let the doctors convince you won't be able to do something... they're usually more wrong than right about this stuff... especially when it comes to mountain bikers.

I know you will heal quickly... the Tribe's thoughts are with you....

Ouch, that looks pretty rough.

First of all, that scar = MONEY.

Secondly, it seems like doctors are almost required to give people the "never regain full motion/never walk again/never lift heavy weights/etc." spiel. Maybe for the sake of not getting patients hope up in the event things turn out worse than expected, or maybe releasing the doctor of liability/high expectations from the patient? Everyone I know who has been told that they'll never be the same has gotten pretty damn close. Even a friend who broke his neck and was "never going to move his legs, and probably have limited use of his arms" is back on his own two feet again.

Good luck man, I think everything will turn out well!

Yowzers! Man Keith, I know you were down, but holy cow that looks serious!! I gotta agree with everyone else here. Im sure you will heal just fine too. Start convincing your mind you plan on getting back to normal. Get into PT and stay with it. Mind over matter! Good luck!! We are with you (if not on the trail, at least in heart.) Heal quick

Mind over matter......listen to the doctors, but believe more is possible We all have some sort of story about doctors giving us bad news and overcoming it......You can do it to!!

You'll be back at the loop before you know it and it'll be waiting for you to kick it's ass!!

Heal well. Hopefully, you have plenty of DVDs to watch while riding the trainer. I'm sure you'll be back on the bike in no time.

Keith, The Docs probably told Tony G the same thing. I spoke to him last week when I was at The Bike Company and he was telling me how he was doing 20 foot gaps! Heal well and I'll see you sooner than later I'm sure.
