I injured my IT band about six months ago. Felt like an ice pick being stabbed into my knee...event went to physical therapy for it.
Today it's manageable. I foam roll for five minutes before and after every ride or trip to the gym. What sucks is I went from riding 60+ road 40+ mountain to 11... I'm slowly upping my mileage. Anyone else have this issue? I'm so scared about hurting myself again. Also, ever since my injury there is some ligament snapping over the bone in my knee when I bend it. Foam rolling helps but still I wish it would go away. Now it feels like I cant get a deep enough stretch with a foam roller. Regardless, anyone else struggling to get their mileage up SLOWLY after an IT band injury? It sucks when you could physically ride hours more but your knee prevents it... |

Great news. My IT band is cured! I got bike professional bike fit at Rock and Road, took it really easy for a couple weeks and got a foam roller. It has not bothered me since. I've done 4+ hr rides and am pain free! I am a believer in proper bike fit!
