Mike, this sucks.
If it's frozen shoulder, you'll be fine before you know it. I've had both shoulders operated on because of that. The doc's said it was a combination of my work being so physical, too many years of football, and my diabetes. The first shoulder took a little more than a month to get back to work. The second time, because I knew what to expect, I went to PT the same day as surgery and started working on the motion. I was back to work in 3 weeks. If it's your rotator, then I have no idea what you're in for. You're old and rough, you'll get through! ![]()

Well, the pain has been going on now for 3 months and not getting much better. Last night I awoke to excruciating pain. I was still waiting to hear from then when I was supposed to see the bone doc. Seems like they forgot to schedule it??? So a new doc looks at my xrays from a while back and calls in another doc. They leave the room and come back to tell me I have a lot of calcium in my tendon and it was caused from last years Feb ride on Chiquita. It was an internal bleed and when the blood leaves it leaves behind the calcium. I knew I'd torn the tendon but nobody said anything about a bleed. Rotator is getting better but my arm is killing me. So the 2 docs are telling me they think the best course of action would be surgery to flush the calcium. Small insision and recovery is a 4 to 6 weeks.

Are you going to do it? What if you opt not to?

I guess I've got 3 different opinions now. I'm willing to try anything now.The way they explained the surgery is it will be no more then a inch cut and very unobtrusive so very quick healing time with a very high success rate.
Thanks for the well wishes. I miss riding with you all.

Next time we do Chiquita, I'll coach you through a different section that will be easier for you to handle. ![]() Sorry Mike. We must have a get together ride for you when you are better. Do the surgery soon so you are ready for the spring rides! |
