I also missed this thread till now, and it's been a roller coaster for me to read through this. I can only imagine what it's been like for you to live it!

As weird as it seems, congratulations on the diagnosis. I know it's major surgery and some downtime, and I'm not familiar with the post-op implications, but considering the alternatives that were going through your mind this seems like great news.

Looking forward to the "DirtyMikeTBD Returns to the Trails" ride!

So happy to hear MIKE!!!! My Grandfather and my Husband both had this surgery with my Grandfather having it years before hubby. So I called Grandpa pre-surgery to ask him what I could expect for hubby.. And he said "oh no biggie.. I was asking for "IT" that afternoon". Very quick surgery and recovery.

Thats pretty much exactly it. No stones, no explanation as to why, just the bilinary duct will not allow for bile to transfer to teh intestine. Plugged, pinched, grown over whatever reason, YOu still need bile in one way or another. My scan showed less than one percent flow of bile, its obstructed to the point it is backflowing into the liver, which is what through off all the other readings, why one day it would look normal, one day everything would be off.

HAHA, actually its not major at all, its no longer than 45 minutes, with two weeks no lifting/riding, that is all.

Post op side effects are easy, and non permanent.

Loose movements for anywere from a week, to a couple months, no biggie, I can handle it.

Cant overload with greasy, but I can have.

return to normal diet and fun soon as I feel up to it.

Hmm...the timing looks like you should be romping around Southridge once again for at least the last three of the winter series. That's good news, Dustin. Stay strong and keep that sense of humor.

So Surgery date is set....January eleventh!!!! Im not scared, little worried because there is always the chance of something going wrong, not looking forward to recovery, but def looking forward to not having pain anymore. At least a week off work, no more than two.

Good news is my work is totally cool about it, giving me vaca time, up to two weeks total if the doc requests it.

Mike, my wife had her gall bladder removed a few years ago (she had been experiencing the severe pain attacks that you had). She had keyhole surgery (I don't know how they get an organ through that small hole ) and her recovery time was minimal. She no longer has any visible scarring (sorry, bro; the scars are the best bit I know). She hasn't even had to modify her diet too much either.

Good luck with the surgery; you'll be back on the bike in no time and those agonizing pains will be a distant memory
