Just got home from the ER. My 9 yr old son Daven took a digger jumping his bike. 10 Stitches to the chin, some road rash on his face and hands. The doc showed him with some cards what stitches are and what they are going to do. I could tell he was afraid by the look on his face, and he wanted me to hold his hand ( such a cool feeling). Then the doc said "only one person can stay in the room while he gets stitches." He picked me. Then they asked him if he had any questions ( and in his toughest voice), He replies " when can I ride my bike again?"
Hes pretty sore but, X-rays show no broken bones. They initially thought he broke his jaw. Good thing he didn't, them damn braces already cost enough money. I'm making him wear a mouth guard, so he don't have a grill like mine.

Been there done that and I think I was about ten also. Later in life when in the Marines I use to tell the chicks I got the scar bayonet fighting. As long as I kept a straight face they always bought it
. He's already starting to accumulate the stories! Best part of the post was his relationship with you. Only a Dad gets that feeling. Pretty cool. |
