Default Rider back up after being down for 6 months!

Hi all:

Last August I was clipped by a passing truck while doing a training ride. In October, I posted a quick blurb here while I mended (Rider down, your help needed).

Recovery is well ahead of schedule, no small part due to the bike. After almost dying of trainer boredom, I got back on the bike in December and started easing my way into a training regimen. I've since done a few events on the singlespeed (Project Rwanda ride and Toad Festival) and have recently signed up for a few races including my fifth consecutive 24-Hour World Solo Championship in Canmore this July.

On my way back from my head injury, I got an opportunity to talk with Saul Raisin. Saul was considered by many to be the next Lance Armstrong. In 2006 when Saul was 23, he had a horrific crash while road racing in France as a mamber of pro team Credit Agricole. He was in a coma and not expected to live. His miraculous recovery was described in Bicycling magazine. Saul and his parents then started the Raisin Hope Foundation to aid the survivors and the families living with traumatic brain injuries (yes, I had one).

I am doing the 2009 Worlds with a purpose: to raise funds for the Raisin Hope Foundation. For the details, you can check out Saul's website at

http://www.saulraisin.com/sitemain/

or the Raisin Hope site at http://raisinhope.ning.com

The links about my endeavor are pretty easy to find.

The mountain biking community is pretty tight knit. Thank you to all of you that wished me a speedy recovery. Let's do what we can to help Saul to help those who are still struggling to recover from their brain injuries.

Your healing vibes worked!

Randy
