That really sucks, Danny. I hope your friend recovers soon.
Good luck telling him not to ride too early! Sounds like he's got a hearing impediment or maybe just a superthick skull (is that why only his legs got broke?). But, whatever... no-one deserves to be hit-and-ran-from! And thanks for the reminder that we should be careful on the road! |

Femur fractures are nasty, I know first-hand. I hope your buddy can keep his spirits up and heals quickly. Drunk Driver's suck!
Should have read last post, sorry! Glad he's back in the saddle. |

Yeah, it kind of pisses me off. I know sometimes we are at fault, but the vast majority of drivers out there are not very careful. For example, climbing up my hill to my house everyday after school, I have to cross about five streets on the way up to my street on Kite Hill. Almost EVERY day I see a person just zoom out and turn without even looking to the right, only looking to the left and making the turn without stopping. I've almost been hit by those people about six times in the past two years.
Also, once I was crossing the street and I made eye contact with a driver, he needed to cross the street and started making the turn. My path had to intersect with his path. I made contact with him and he gave me a nod. When I started to pass in front of him, he started to pull up very close to me. At one point I could feel the heat coming from the front of the car. I had to jerk away at the last moment; my rear wheel barely missing his hood. I was also in an accident where a truck was parked in a bike-lane. It was on the way to school, I was looking behind me to see if any cars were coming so I could go around. I ended up coming up on the truck too fast while looking behind me and fractured my cheek bone, and both pinky bones in my hands. I still believe that cars should not be allowed to park in bike-lane, but that may just because I am jaded.
