Did the doc also mention you got the black lung? I'd look into that if I were you.

(you know I'm kidding right?)

Take Care of yourself, I was riding AM 3 weeks after my clav break with minimal soreness. That hanging shard looks nasty.

Heal up, but 3-5 months? WHAT? Thats way overprotective. Are you talking to a regular doctor or a orthopedic? It doesn't take 3-5 months to heal, especially if surgically set it. I would say 3 months should be the max not the min. I know with nothing to set the bones and not following the doctors directions I was healed in about 3 months.

Well there are only 3 pieces of the clavicle. The last part on the far right is actually part of the scapula.

Beautiful x-ray, kudos to your ability to make the rest of us cringe like that

Hope you heal up quick, and get your pain meds filled before you head home!

That is without a doubt the worse collar bone break I've ever seen. Heal quick youngster and please do as the doc says. I'm still paying for not heading the doc's advice.

Wow that is impressive....I broke my clavicle 5 1/2 weeks ago and I'm nowhere near to be able to ride!
Doc said it will be 6-8 weeks to HEAL, doesnt mean I can ride after 6 weeks.

Best vibes, heal fast!

Just had my surgery on wednesday. Doc says I can't ride untill the rod comes out!

The surgery was WAY worse than than the break itself. i have been lying around in severe pain for 3 days now.

I will post the after X-ray as soon as I get it!

On the bright side, when you have that much hardware the healing time can sometimes be much less. When I shattered my wrist and had a plate put in I got the cast off in only 12 days. Hopefully this speeds things up for you b/c broken collarbones suck!
