So we went up and rode the plunge friday, all was great I feel im a confident rock rider and there was plenty of rocks to ride up,over and around. Almost halfway through the ride we came through a series of flowy trail that dropped down towards a fireroad. Last thought in my head was I can ride those two rocks down. Then I was upside down thinking Did my feet come unclipped? Did a complete front flip I dont know how I got both feet out before I hit but I did. Landed with my face on a rock and my leg between me and another was on the ground for a second or two (felt like it) before my bike came out of the sky and landed on the back of my head. I layed there not wanting to see where my various body parts ended up, JFish was waiting in front of me and came over and FreakNGo came down a few minutes behind me. When I got up had to find all the pieces of my sunglasses, my left eye was bleeding and my right leg(side of my shin) was hurting pretty good. I checked my bike over for broken parts (none amazing) and continued on towards an old ranger cabin where we were eating lunch. My eye stopped bleeding by then, but my leg was starting to swell and hurt like hell. I ended up limp riding the rest of the way out and down the 5000 foot plunge without really being able to apply to much presure to my leg. Got back to town and drank a sampler and my leg proceeded to swell up 3 times its normal size and it looked like I had a massive calf growing out of the side of my leg.
Today: 1 day later Im still hobbling off and on and trying to elevate and ice my leg, I dont think i did any bone damage but defintly did some soft tissue, its all black and blue and still swollen I may not be riding this week. My leg in the Motel Room ![]() My face its hard to see the lump ![]() My Pain Killers, ![]() What it looks like right now ![]()

Sorry to hear about your crash and resulting injury. Did you get the leg x-rayed? It looks pretty swollen.
I had a similar type of crash on T&A recently. It was like slow-motion... OTB, hit the ground/rocks with hand and knee (wearing pads, thankfully), then the bike coming down right on top of me. Ouch. It's a risky sport we're involved with. Hope you're better soon!

After looking at that leg, I suggest you start taking vitamin E or asprin to thin your blood out a bit. As it turns out, when you have a contusion like like the blood will tend to coagulate. This is what you see as a discolored bruise. The problem is that some of this coagulated blood can then migrate to the heart and cause a blockage (heart attack)... by thinning the blood you lower the risk of this happening. Hopefully this will not happen.
![]() BWT: I hear that pads are a wonderful thing to wear... sorry, couldn't resist that one.Heal up bro! ![]()

6 hour ride you have to cut clutter somewhere , I cant do sustained climbing with pads on so they didn't come along. Also I wont be bringing an XC bike to the Plunge Agian (knife to a gun fight) I've had enough injuries that im pretty sure nothing serious is broken just ice, keeping elevated and taking anti-inflamitorys
