Default Rider Down on Sunday Jun 29 @ El Morro

Rode the full loop at El Morro canyon on Sunday and while we were there a rider was airlifted off of RattleSnake. Anyone hear who it was or what happened? Just curious.

Default Really?

Wow, you'd think if he couldn't clean Rattle Snake, he could have just walked-it and saved himself a hefty bill from the city for the ride.

Ok, in all seriousness, I hope whom ever it was, is doing okay now and it wasn't too serious.

How would you know you wouldn't clean it until you didn't clean it?

That doesn't surprise me. I see guys bombing down that trail like their walking down the street and I cringe just looking at it. I hope he's ok.

Hell, Lately The Graded Fire Road below Rattle Snake is more dangerous than actual Rattle Snake, with that sharp off cambered loose as crap right hand turn...Tries to suck me over the edge every time...

So if I ever show up missing, just look there

Well, it's a great trail for bombing down!
But accidents do happen, and R/S is pretty rocky. Hopefully the rider wasn't badly injured.

As it is now, the loose dirt from grading may be more hazardous than the rocks anyway.

I rode down Rattlesnake yesterday. I must say that I felt a whole lot safer going down RS than riding the graded fire road immediately afterward. I wonder why they can't just follow up the grading with a water truck?

Hope the afore mentioned rider is back up and on the bike soon!

Does anyone have a picture of this nasty beast? I like to see how it is? If you do, please post.

Thanks

Just look at the El Moro section under trail pics, it isn't steep at all but pretty chunky.....the faster you go the better if you ask me

rattlesnake's a funny trail. it's pretty easy for a lot of people a lot of the time, but i'll bet it's cracked more collarbones than any other trail in the area.

Yes I was on Trail Patrol for SHARE on that day. Treve aka Pedalboy and I were coming down RS and met up with the riders who were with him. Seems the rider's foot came off the pedal (he was clipped in) and got jammed between the pedal and a rock and broke his shin. After Treve and I descended RS, we ran into the Fire Rescue guys that help the rider and they told us that the rider suffer a compound fracture on his right leg and the bone ripped through the skin. We thanked the rescuers and as we rode off the helicopter came back, landed and picked them up. Sorry, no pics.
