Sorry to hear she's has to go under the knife. At least it'll be an outpatient surgery. Give Sherri my best!

Well, then...another flip-flop. This morning she saw the Ortho surgeon at St.John's who's very highly regarded. He did X-rays both with and without a cast, on a much better machine than her other doctor's office has...he says it's not displaced and that he sees these often and it really could go either way.

He suggests to try and let it heal up on its own, because it very well could, and worse case scenario, it may be problematic later and it's something that could be fixed in the future.

He doesn't recommend surgery for something like this, because you can't be 100% sure it's needed, and when you talk about removing parts and having a surgery like that, you shouldn't do it unless it's absolutely necessary (which I tend to agree with). The other guy didn't ever seem 100% sure and it sounded like he wanted to do it as a preventative measure. And we just didn't feel comfortable going with that kind of surgery without a second opinion.

We are going to go conservative and stick with a cast. He's going to be guiding her and seeing her in the next couple of months (the guy at St.John's who's not technically her doctor).

She's a trooper...hopefully it will all be OK.

Wow, what a change in events. I agree with Sherri's doc at St. John's 100%. If there's any question whether the surgery's necessary or not, take the conservative approach!

When all's said and done......she'll be just fine Helps to have age on her side!

Hey guys...sorry I haven't updated in a little while. I just got back from Vegas I was there for a trade show for a little while.

She's got her next appointment tomorrow, I think he's removing her cast. Said he wanted her to start moving ASAP so hopefully she'll have a soft support type thing. We'll see.

UPDATE: she got the cast off! Doctor said it's healing, and he wants her to slowly move now. No cast, just take it easy and no heavy lifting, etc. In about 3 weeks she's going back. No physical therapy yet, he wants her to heal it on her own and says PT might be too harsh for it right now. So we'll see how she does. Here's to hoping it heals well and we can get back out there with you guys soon!

*BUMP*

So she had her follow-up yesterday...apparently it's healed up very well. She gets stiff once in a while while sleeping but is otherwise fine. She has difficulty locking her elbow open but in time it may get better. For now the doc said she can do whatever it can handle as it's pretty much healed up.

We are gonna start riding on the beach path again soon to try and sorta get back in shape...hope to get back out there with you guys soon (though we will take it easy for a while!).

Great to hear Sherri's just about healed. Can't wait to see you out on the trails soon! Hell, we still haven't had the chance to get out and ride yet!
