The question is...

Do you still have to do diaper duty with a broken wrist?

When I broke my shoulder socket 3 weeks after my son was born, I didn't have diaper duty for 6 months.

Typing is really tough with a cast. Save your energy. This was all you needed to say.

It's a good thing that your wife convinced you to see the doctor soon. About a year ago I fractured my wrist as well and just like you I thought I sprained it. After about 6 weeks my wrist was still tender so I wen to see a doctor. And as expected I completely fractured a bone in my hand (scaphoid bone) and the portion of bone that broke did not have any blood supply. To correct the fracture the surgeon performed a bone/vascular graft to the fractured bone and place two pins in my hand. I was In a cast for 16weeks!!! and required about 4 months of rehab after the cast was off. My surgeon told me that if i had seen a doctor sooner a simple cast was all i may had needed.

Till this day I still dont have full range of motion in my wrist. In fact I have to do push ups with my fist because I cant flex my wrist far enought to lay flat.

"...initially thought the wrist was just a little sprain but was unsure..."

What the F is it with our medical folk these days?!?!?! They said the same thing to me when I went to the ER after breaking my wrist on March 24th. I finally got a cast on it six weeks later. Still friggin' hurts.

Heal fast (you're much younger than me, so that should be no issue).

Scaphoid fractures are hard to diagnose. Especially within the first few days following the incident. I've broken my wrist twice. Both times I had follow up X-rays to rule out a scaphoid fracture.

Sorry to hear about the extended time off the bike, Pugz. The new addition to the family will make the time pass quickly. I broke my wrist (Colles fracture- radius/ulna) 6 days before my son was born. It didn't get me out of diaper duty. The wife said it was penance for doing a nightride down Suicide when she was 9 months pregnant.

Being forced off the bike was a blessing in disguise. I probably spent a lot more quality time with my boy. I also took second shift with baby care to give my wife a much needed break.
