Default Another Rider down at Vail Lake

We were pre-running the 12 hr. of Temecula course. Everything was flowing nicely. We were coming down Tunnel of Love, at just about the end, I went down hard. I was jumping down the drop before the very end of the trail. I landed wrong, not sure exactly. Went over the bars, landed on my right shoulder. Bike ended up about 10-15 feet further down the trail in the bushes. Knocked the wind out of me. Once I caught my breathe, I rolled off the trail and sat up. I wanted to make sure no one landed on me while laying in the trail.

My right shoulder was hurting pretty bad. Scraps up and down my right side. My helmet dented and cracked. I walked out to the road and a friend grabbed his car.

I went to the ER, Broken Clavicle (Collarbone). This really sucks, I have been training hard for the race and to take my self out 2 weeks prior.

BTW, Bike is ok.

Suck! At least you can come out, drink beer and heckle the solo racers with the rest of us "spectators".

bummer bro!

the number three race has your name all over it...redemption!!

look at it as a way to get 5 more months of prep work in.

can you still hit up the spin bike w/ one arm?

ps....vail has been known to bite! remember this...DOH!

Luke, I remember your video well, I was thinking about it as I went down that hill. I have to so that I took it easy.

Justin, I go to the right on the spot that I crashed. I am thinking that I hit one of the ruts and bottomed out my fork. I have POS RST fork that I have been planning to replace. Hopifully soon.

It is amazing how much you use your shoulder. It hurts just roll over or pushing to get up with your other arm.

The team wants me to come to the race, my co-workers want me to go to a company picnic that was planned the same day. Not sure what I am going to do yet. There will be beer at both locations, that I brewed.

Healing vibes and all the best to a quick recovery. I know the feeling; broke my left clavicle and a few other bones last year and was off the bike for 8 months!!

I feel your hurt! I'm recovering from my right collarbone fracture. It's been four weeks since it happened and it's been feeling really good. I went to a indoor spin class today and it was sore, but I was able to due the whole class. It gets better. I snapped it in two and the bone is overlapped.

Did anyone with a broken Clavicle go to a Sports Doctor to make sure the bones where healing properly and would not effect your riding?

A friend suggested I talk to one. I think it might be a good idea.
