Default CPR Class!

We had a great CPR class today at work. Little dummies and all. The teacher was a 24HR MTB racer and back country EMT. Very good info to have in our line of endeavor. If you have the opportunity to take a CPR class do it! You might save a life!

Learn CPR/First Aid, and carry Aspirin. Two simple things to do that can have a big effect.

Default Me Too!

I had my Bi-annual CPR refresher class at work today too! It is the American Heart Association class, taught by a Fireman/EMT that works at our refinery.

We also had AED training in addition to first aid. It seems like they are always changing the breath to compression ratios. It is now at 2 breaths to 30 compressions for adult and child/infant.

An interesting thing covered during the first aid portion was the Epi-pen training, complete with training pens without needles (Epinepherine for allergic reactions to insect stings like BEES!).

One thing the instructor said is that some of his friends who are allergic to bees tried to get Epi-pens from their doctors and they were told to just carry liquid Benedryl for the reaction.

Liquid Capsules are easier to deal with in a first aid kit for a backpack... break them open and let the contents dissolve under the tongue. Asthma inhalers can help open a blocked airway as well, if you don't have benadryl.

Maybe those French bike trails are worth a look. Always good to ride where you know at least you'll be safe with the maids around
