Wow, very impressive. I wish my wife would go out with me and get all banged up like that. You're a lucky guy.

Oh yeah, healing vibes coming her way!

Got her to our friends place; got her in the shower and all cleaned up and off to the ER we went just to make sure nothing was broken... good news is nothing is broken but she is sore as hell; her wrist is wrapped in an ace bandage and her opposite arm is in a sling due to her shoulder. Doctor says percocet and no work until Monday should do the trick for her! So this week she gets new hydraulic brakes and a larger front rotor... so she can ride another day!

I had surgery recently and the surgeon said that Zinc Oxide (like what the surfers use) and vitamin E help prevent/reduce the scarring and help the healing.

Take care, heal quick and get back on the bike as soon as possible

Bad news... got the word on Thursday she has to have rotator cuff repair surgery with an acromioplasty (removes a small portion of the shoulder blade that hooks over the rotator cuff). Surgery is scheduled for August 18th with an estimated 4-6 months of recovery.

Default Moral support offering

Sorry to hear the news!!!! I had mine repaired 2 years ago and it was a long, long rehab process. If she has any questions or wants to talk, she can always call me.

One of the biggest issues is keeping your fitness during the recovery period!!!! I did lots of hiking and eventually rode the trainer and did what I could within my limitations. I also purchased an "After Physical Therapy" program that worked on my range of motion and flexibility afterwards. This really, really helped me out. I would be happy to share the info if you would like it!!!!!

My injury was 20 years of sports and many, many crashes, etc. It was 4 cm retracted and took much repair. Once the sling came off, I could not lift my arm more than 2 or three inches. It was like having to learn to use it from scratch. For someone who is used to lifting moderately heavy weights it was very frustrating.

Having said all that, in hindsight, I really needed someone to talk to and someone to encourage me that could speak from "real experience". My husband tried, but he just couldn't relate, one being male and 2 never being in the same situation.

Soooo, if I can be of moral support, etc. please let me pass it on!!!

Sorry to hear about your wife. I've had torn rotators and ligaments on both shoulders. Being immobilized after surgery was the worst part of it. Take good care of her, and let us know how the surgery goes!

Who's doing the operation?
