Helmet? Like that is important. You guys didn't even notice that the rider isn't wearing any knee, elbow or wrist protection?

You can live with a shattered wrist.

Your chances of survival with a shattered skull are slim to none.

And I'd rather die than have shattered balls...so yea.

You'll have to grow a pair first.

You want to talk about pain. I was at Sheep's and watched a kid on a twenty inch slip off his pedals and get his balls caught between the tire and brake. His friends helped him remove them by turning the wheel in the opposite direction. Amazingly the kid was hitting jumps half an hour later.

How long have I been saying clipless pedals are a fad? BTW flat pedals would have prevented the faceplant and a potential neck injury, a helmet wouldn't.

Flat pedals wouldn't produce talent though!

Your right! I would like to immediately begin a petition to outlaw clip-on pedals and have them replaced with clip-on handlebars.

BTW, I do silly things too.

good for him for not being killed or really badly injured... I do love that in this sequence you can almost see the progression of what he was thinking.

in pic 1 he knows its all gone wrong

in pic 2 he makes the only effort he can to save his a$$

in pic 3 he realized how badly he failed, and suffers the consequences

But good for him for getting out there and giving it a shot, I probably never would try that.

Then again I plan to walk the rest of my life, and keep what original teeth I still have.

That looks like a truth or dare stunt.

Who dared him to jump and ride without a helmet?

The helmet thing is dumb, to be sure...

...but I won't jump WITHOUT being clipped in. You can get some nice bonus air by lifting your bike with your feet at the apex of a jump, and you can always set your release tension loose (I can clip out in mid-air if I have to).

I won't lament on the need for protection on the trails as everyone else has done...that's a given. However, it almost looks like he didn't mean to take off that way, as if something had gone terribly wrong.
