Default brendagilbert airlifted from Chiquita Ridge

While we were all enjoying ourselves at the CC/VQ, my good friend Brenda decided to ride Chiquita Ridge with a friend. She had a bad crash on Playboy singletrack and got nailed by the handlebars in the abdomen. She could not move at all and had to be airlifted to Mission Hospital with internal bleeding and undetermined injuries.

As of this afternoon they were still testing her to see what was torn and causing the bleeding. Strangely, she had hardly a scratch on her... except for the massive bruising on her lower abdomen... I saw her today and she was in good spirits but in a ton of pain. You can't tell from this pic how uncomfortable she is, but it is BAD... As usual, she has an incredible attitude.

On the left is Jacke Van Woerkom, fearless leader of the Trail Angels, who came by for a visit, too.

I will be visiting again tomorrow, so I'll keep you all posted.

Who will be my partner in crime on the local trails? I miss her already...

Sorry to hear that, hope they find the bleed and she heals up fast!

As for riding, I'm off on Tues and Thurs this week and cleared for fun (easy-type) rides. If you're up for slow, let me know

Healing vibes to her. She was the one helping an injured rider on San Juan a couple of weeks ago, right?

Girl, you know I'm the queen of slow! You should join us on Thursday to Caspers... I might have a super slow local newbie thing going on Tuesday - I'll let you know.

She's the one - witnessed and help arrange the air lift on SJT, and a week later is being lifted out by the exact same rescue guys. She said, "I almost asked them, 'Do you guys remember me from last week?' "

I was in the parking lot at Mission on Sat & saw the county chopper set down. All weekend I've been wondering if this post was going to show up - I figured it may have been a VQ/CC rider down. How ironic that it was someone out for a fun ride.

Best wishes to Brenda for a full and speedy recovery. I'll be there again much of the day tomorrow, so if there's anything she needs, please let me know.
