On the edge of chaos
![]() |
I had a great start on the day with 30 miles and 5000' at Cheeseboro, making our own versions of the B's with energy to spare. Not wanting to overdo it I got out the road bike for an easy ride.
Bad choice. I was JRA and then woke up on the pavement with people cleaning me up. I eventually realized where I was but not why. I had collided with a truck (no memory of that). The sheriff, fire truck, and ambulance were on the scene. Off to the hospital for x-rays and MRI. The damage: (1) broken second metacarpal, 5 stitches, but thankfully did not sever the tendon. (2) 7 stitches on the chin. (3) broken helmet, broken C1 disc - 3 months of wearing a neck collar. I don't need the pinning apparatus. (4) cuts, scrapes, bruises, swollen knee, etc. Unless there's a miracle healing of the disc* I'll miss the VQ and Fargo Street. The neurusurgeon said eat at least 2200 calories a day, that's easy. *(not thinkng about the hand, duh) Pictures? working on it. I'll ride the trainer as soon as the knee is ready. |

Scary stuff. Another reason I stay off the pavement. I'd rather do a 10' drop than ride around with the cars. Any idea if they hit you or just a freak accident?
Healing vibes your way and let us know if you need anything.
