Someone had mentioned that you had a fullface helmet but decided not to where it. I could only wonder, if you didn't feel there was a need to where it at Bootleg, what kind of riding do you do where you do feel a FF is required?

This is the first time I've ever worn one there.

I bought it for the North Shore style stuff in Massachusettes. Honestly, I didn't wear it at Bootleg because I didn't want to look like a puss to everyone at STR while I was riding the XC stuff. Had me and Kieth been going solo, I probaly woud've worn it.

So ironically, my superficial attitude resulted in superficially scarring my face. I f'ed up and chose "cool" over "safe". I don't think the scar will be that bad, but it'll remind me this sport needs to be taken seriously whenever your wheels are rolling.

To be honest, would anyone really have made fun of you? Sure, we all joked with Luke about rolling in lycra, but it's all in good fun. As far as I'm concerned, everyone should wear what they feel comfortable in for riding. I don't care if you wear a FF at Daley. Might make it look like you are going for out of bounds stuff, but if it makes you feel good who cares?

I don't think that anyone would've gotten on your case, though. I told Danny to stick with his XC lid while riding with Craig yesterday just for the breathability aspect. I can't stand climbing in a FF.

Na, I just wanted to look tough. Testorone clouded my judgement for the upteenth time in my adult life. The new Chumba also fooled me into thinking I could go alot faster than my skill level. Whatevs, lesson learned.

It's just skin and blood. It'll all go back to (somewhat) normal It's the internal invisible ailments that usually turn out to be the worst. That, or mental blocks.

Sounds like my kind of ride, The holes in my lips have healed nicely. The only advice I have for you is good oral hygiene and keep a bottle of Listerine handy. Also avoid neosporin on unbroken skin, trust me.

You asked, I once tore off half my face and continually applied the ointment in question. I wound up with a nasty plethora of pustules and healing took forever due to actually loosing more layers of soggy, sloppy skin.

Moral is use only sparingly to keep scabs from drying out.

Ok, I guess I will chime in. While it does suck that the Evil one bashed his face Brendan I would not say that you were in error for not wearing a FF helmet. And after talking to you I think your injury is do more in part to a mistake we all make at some point, we let our guard down and become complacent on the trail. He said himself that he relaxed because he knew he was at the end of the trail, and that is why he crashed. Had he maintained concentration he more than likely would not have crahsed. Many if not all of the XC riders out there (except Evil) wore a regular lid, with numerous falls between us and nobody rec'd anything more than mild abrasions and bruises. So, IMHO I don't think it was necessarily a mistake not to wear the FF. Lastly, let me say this, I certaintly would not look down on anyone that chose to go FF at that place. If anything who was the nut case wearing the lycra??? (kidding Luke)

Evil, get well soon, and we will take another crack up there!!

RANT OVER!!

If it's any consolation, you look like youre still a pretty good lookin' guy. Tell her to put that in her lawyer pipe and puff it! Tell her to be nice to court reporters too.

Oh...I didn't know you were riding XC. I'm sorry that I sounded a bit harsh ; I thought you were taking the new Chumba on the DH "face" runs (no pun intended). Since you were just doing XC stuff, I think a normal lid is probably ok. For XC, I would have only worn a normal lid.
