Default Hodges Aftermath

I finally got back in town this afternoon after being on business travel since Sat. Not having been on a bike since Noble, I decided to do some recon of Hodges early this evening but was only there for 45 min to survey the damage from some key vantage points. Pictures pretty much say it all. The last 180 degree panoramic is the ranch borders the west of south Hodges.

Drove by earlier this afternoon on RB Rd & Camino del Norte and saw the east and south slopes of Elfin Forest were hit as well. Del Dios Hwy remains closed to survey any closer. Also Blue Sky Ecological Reserve, Lake Poway and parts of Mt Woodson are gone. Not sure of the Ellie Lane trail north of Iron Mtn until Rt 67 is opened to get a closer look. All other trails to the south are intact as stated by prior posters (Black Mtn, LPQ, Sycamore Cyn, TW, etc). From what I could see on the descent into SD, Laguna mtns still looked ok for now.

Don't worry, nature will restore it to its former beauty!

It'll take close to a year before it starts looking anywhere near normal again.

So North Hodges is just as bad as South??

Thanks, I'm going to start on a consolidated list of all the jacked trails to put on my site in the next few days. I did the voluntary evac for the family and stuff including my development server so I have a few wires to reconnect.

Yep, I remember it took MTRP over a year to look like anything more than moon scape. About two years later it looked like a fun place to visit. What a major bummer.

The guest book on Bernardo Mtn is gone I am guessing? That has sigs from years ago. Here is a pic from a few years ago with me, PacMan, Spec-Ed and Larry PacMan's dad all signing the guest book. That was a kick @$$ day...

Default Two Weeks After the fires...

Hello All,
I live on the north side of the Lake, the fires came within 150 yards of my house (see last pic). Also, for those who are familiar with the trails at the lake, you might recognize some of the places in the pics...
The whole park is closed till further notice... :-(

It doesn't even look the same trail I know so well. Its going to take years to get back what we lost.

Everyone says it will grow back, but 20+ year growth is what really adds trail charater. We don't get enough rain for it to grow back quickly like in the east. There will also never be a 50 yard thicket of tunnel up to the water tank again.

Maybe, but I know when the trails in Fallbrook got toasted in 2002 (before I started riding), they were back so strong by the next summer (when I started riding) you barely tell there was a fire.
