We had a great time out there. I don't know the official head count, but I would have to say we had at least 50 people out there, probably more.
The A group took off and rode Northridge. The B group went up Telegraph and we all met at 4 corners. It was a sight to see the A group coming down from Northridge to 4 Corners and it had all eyes looking up. From there some of the A group went up Bovinian and presumably back down Southridge. The other part of the A group went down Raptor Ridge. The B group turned around and went back down Telegraph. We couldn't hang out long in the parking lot afterwards because Linda and I had to get back to the house. This was a great ride. It was fun to meet so many new people and see so many familiar faces. This was Linda's first ride and she had a good time. About half way up Telegraph she was ready to quit, but she pushed through like a trooper. Great job to Jason (Pugz) for sticking it out and riding strong. Thanks to Gene for organizing this and for Dino for providing plenty of fun (see pics below). We can't make it to Danny K's tonight, but the ride today was a blast. Looks like a great time was had by all!
I'm glad to see Jason (pugz) made it, great job Jason! It gets easier I promise! I had to choose between adult exercise on the bike or lifting beers, I choose beers so Neil & I will see everyone tonight.

The amazing thing was that OMR rode all the way up Northridge with that little guy stuck in his hair and didn't even notice! Someone had to pick it out for him....
Seriously, what a great day! Sorry I had to blast out right after the ride - had to make an emergency stop at Switchback for brake repairs and get back home before my babysitting time ran out. Everyone have a great time tonight and I'll see some of you next Saturday! |

Wow, what a ride, I have not seen a group this big since my racing days, and best of all everyone seemed to be having a good time. That coyote beside the road could just stand and stare, I don't think he had ever seen so many riders roll past. First off, cheers to the organizers and all the folks who came out on this fine day - blue skies, not too warm. Nice easy trail to get acquainted with, or suffer on if you happen, like me, to have followed OMR on the extra credit ride with hike-a-bike steeps.
Nothing better. Now for a few pix to ogle. My goal now is to do enough of these rides to be able to name most of the folks in the pix. |

Old Man Riding...
![]() |
Great turn out today!. I was all set to do the easy ride up the canyon with the B group.. But when I showed up, Gene asked if I would lead the A group... and me on my SS. Turned out we have a good group of 27 riders in the A group. Climbed up North Ridge and down the single track to 4 Corners where we met the B group and had time to hang out for a while and watch Dino and his hair escort the last of the group to 4 Corners! Way to go Dino!
Although the A group had begun to shrink, we took off and went down Raptor Ridge single track, which is in awesome shape. Made to the Range station and the restrooms, rewatered and back up the 3 Bitches to 4 Corners and back down Telegraph to cars... where Gene and the B group was already well into their 2 bevs. Had a lot of fun chasing Jose on his Orange Niner (he's riding sooo strong these days!) ...and special props to Dirt Mistress (Liz) she climbed every hill at the front. Even Hoosierdaddy (Jeff) did several no hands wheelies on the climbs. I was really pleased that everybody seemed to have a good ride. Thanks grasshopers....

Very fun! Very nice group! Some of you looked so familiar. Perhaps we've passed each other on the trail with a quick nod and a little grunt but today we got to meet and talk and chase each other and watch each other drool and marvel over each others skills and bikes.
It was like a little mini fest and I reeeeeally dug it!!! Thanks!! |

Good fun today!
I got there about 9:50 after a pair of 8am soccer games with the kids. I booked it up Telegraph and started to see STRers a little before Rimcrest. Lots of friendly faces. STR was dominating the park! Hooked up with the Dino group and made it to four corners before the big crowd had left. Lots of laughs & lots of great bikes (Willie & Pugz' Chubas and Dell's Terremoto are sweet!). Thanks for the spin Dell. Decided to just roll back down Telegraph and then came across Maxine with a broken hanger. A group effort got her patched up, but it didn't hold and she was left chainless. She and I ended up in a tandem formation to get down the FR. It was fun - reminded me of when we were kids and you'd pull on your friend's shoulder to pull forward and then they'd do the same. Made it to the parking lot and enjoyed meeting new folks and catching up with others. Thanks to the organizers for another fun time! ![]() |

Whoops! Actually I didn't bail early. It was planned out. The Wine Festival is going on in Paso Robles this weekend so had to get back home to the festivities with family. I was glad to be able to get in the ride and see everyone.
