I rode Whiting Ranch this morning around 9:00 and noticed almost everybody going the opposite way as I was. I rode to the Ralph's parking lot and went in the "entrance" like I have done many times before. First I see a few hikers coming towards me. No big deal. Then I see a bunch of joggers and another family of hikers, Strange, but no biggie. Then I see a couple riding their bikes towards me. They both have helmets and they didn't look like Walmart bikes. Strange.
By the time I had climbed Mustard I saw 5 bikers going the opposite way. Was I halucinating? Can you now ride both ways at Whiting? I don't actually know where it says "one way trail" so I didn't tell those riders they were in the wrong. Did I just imagine it was only a one way trail before? Anyone else see this occur at Whiting? P.S. It was friggin HOT! |

There's no set rule that says you have to do whiting in the traditional clockwise direction. Some people like to switch it up and ride trails a different direction sometimes. I wouldn't worry about it - just keep your head up and be aware (gotta be aware at whiting anyway from all the traffic it gets).
edit: looks like borrego trail IS a one way trail Last edited by LBmtb; 09-01-2007 at 08:00 PM. |

I always thought Borrego Trail was one way for bikes. That kinda sets the flow to go clockwise.

Dean is right, Borrego is one-way for bikes, unless you're walking it. Sometimes we come back down Mustard to climb up to Vista, then head back to Four-Corners - maybe others are doing the same?

Borrego is one-way from the bridge over the big gully to Mustard Road. A lot of beginners ride up to where the sign is and end up turning around because they don't know where they will end up.
