RAGBRIA XL 2012 in pictures

500 miles, 20,000 cyclists, extreme heat and humidity, night time thunder storms, watery beer, long lines for showers and bathrooms, and at the end a 6 hour bus ride back to the start. Yet all I seem to think about is how much fun I had.
A celebration in every town every day, the friendliest people I have ever met, homemade ice cream, grilled pork chops, roasted corn, all along the route.
Enough talk. Here's the real story.

Where was this event? A couple of Colorado stickers and shirts, but also New Mexico, Iowa, Texas representin' - Looks to be the midwest somewhere.

The ride goes across Iowa with a different route every year. This year it was from Sioux Center to Clinton.
And yes that is a bar on one bike and a full size BBQ on the other.

My sister did this 3 or 4 years ago and ever since I have been wanting to do it.

A lot of the towns we stopped in were not prepared for the impact of 20,000 cyclists stopping in for a one day visit. In Anamosa there was a rush on the liquor department at Walmart. I fought my way in and snagged the last six pack of beer. We all look so proud.
