Thumbs up Path Ride Sunday San Juan FUN!!

Man, we had a huge group today for our San Juan ride.
I believe I counted 19 of us!! And we had NO issues what so ever! None.
No angry, out of line, DHer's on the climb up. The two we saw while climbing stopped for us, and even turned down our offer to let them keep their flow. Very cool!
No rude hikers at all, up or down. The two we past on our way down we very cool, and even joked around with us about who they could mess with in our group!
And all the climbers we came across on our way down, were very cool. No attitudes at all, from anyone on this ride!

So, with no crazy SJ conflict stories to tell, and no mechanicals or flats, and only one crash that I know of (yes, that would be me) there's not much left, but showing the pictures!

    Pat, Greg, and Lazano climbing.

Greg gave the tough switchback a couple of tries, with no clean, but he looked great trying!

Pat on the other hand, cleaned it like he'd been doing it this way forever!

I gave it a couple of shots too. No clean for me either. I may have to try Pat's style next time.

    Denis....enjoying another day of "work".

Magna conquering some demons. He took the challenge, and got it done today! Nice job man!

Bloodhead riding rigid today. Rode my a$$ all the way down, and was just far enough behind to miss the "Crash" Maxwell moment of the day.

Frank showing his new Sultan some love on the DH!

This guy? Oh, he's just another freak'n fast guy, up & down, that drove two freak'n hours to ride with us, and I forgot to mention it was Eddie!!
Shoot Eddie, getting old and forgetfull really sucks! But it really was great riding with you again!

Bloodhead, riding like a downhiller, wearing the XC clothes!

Greg was hauling today on the descent!

Frank showing the switchbacks some love!

Magna, reaping his reward for the climb!

I think Mark enjoyed the descent more than the climb. I believe that's a normal way of thinking!

Willie was just flat out moving! Seat UP and all!

    CPATTRYINGTOKEEPUPWITHWILLIE!
    Way to ride Papi!

I believe this was Nolan's first San Juan ride. I think he'll be back!

Two of my favorite folks to ride with, John & Rachel!

    Rachel's smile says it all!

This one has a little story......

I had just climbed up into the bushes, trying to get a cool looking down angle. It wasn't working, so I hopped down, just as Kay was riding by. I managed to get her picture before she passed.

Next thing I hear is "Maxwell, where are you?"
Kay got down to where I had laid my bike in the bushes, off the trail, and thought I'd crashed. I let her know I was in the brush getting pictures, and as she rode off she says, "don't scare me like that"!

I guess it's good to have a reputation that keeps your friend's watching out for you!

It was a great ride today! I'm glad you all showed up!

Today was a great Shop Ride. It was my first time on San Juan and I really enjoyed it. I grew up in Colorado where most the trails are singletrack and have switchbacks, so S.J. felt a bit like home. It's simply a lot of fun to clean swithbacks!

Default This guy? Oh, he's just another freak'n fast guy, up & down! It was great riding with

Darin, I drove 2 hours to be referred to as "This guy?!"

No worries... As H2oChic clarified at cocktail rock, I'm Crazysue's husband (as opposed to her being Sailor Ripley's wife).

I had a blast today... the last time I rode San Juan Trail was around '91 or '92. I really enjoyed the climb...
... and a murder of crows did circle 'round... first one, and then the others... N.Cave

Man Eddie, you should see me trying to kick myself in the ass right now!

I am glad you showed up, and I look forward to riding with you again.
And by the way, with as many times that I've ridden with Greg and Kay, I had Greg as "Scott" in my head for some unknown reason!

You two just aren't as cute as your wifes, I never forget Margret and Sally's names!

Looks like an awesome day, and I wish I could have joined. Just got back into town this evening, but SJT is on my short list for a ride very soon.

Nice ride report Darin. Great day except it was COLD when we started.

Willie is turning into a mutant!! She fly's up hills like there nothing and is getting fast on the down hills too. I'm going to have to start doing some secret training while she's sleeping if I ever want to keep up with her again.

Now you know why Dino coined me the Western Whitelegged Ball Buster. It's funny, but Dino (and now you) think Sue is cuter than me. I'm feeling a bit self-conscious now

Pat... it wasn't cold Living in the high desert, this was the first ride in over 2 months that I didn't wear a jacket or warmers.
Yes, Willie was moving! I think that you are going to have to get used to it. I hate to break it to you on a public forum and all, but at our age there is no secret training left. We need all the sleep and recovery time possible.

Shoot man, since you were already up there, you might as well just came down Los Pinos!

Although, I know the long descent without 16 hike-a-bikes was probably more appealing!

It was so nice meeting up with you guys at San Juan! Next time, I'm checking out the Path thread before setting up a ride with John and Brandon, as we seem to be on the same mindset for fun trails and you can't beat the company that the Path brings out.

Such a beautiful day! I'm not sure that I've been on a more perfect San Juan ride--for the first time I actually stayed on my bike (well, cept the parts I walked/dabbed). However, John did have a little wash out. Guess he took my fall

This was the third ride we've been on with Maxwell and I've got to say that he always brings something special to the day. The guys got such a love of the sport and is totally unselfish when it comes to keeping an eye on everyone. Thanks Maxwell. Sunday was no exception and another memorable ride. Willie set a brisk pace and Bloodhead truly rips down hill on that rigid! Nice meeting Sailor Ripley and seeing familiar faces.
    Greg

    From Kay,
What a fun ride and a good pace! Shortly after leaving Cocktail Rock, I had an incident with a Manzanita branch that left me startled and missing some fabric from my glove. Good thing I was wearing gloves!
