Not the best quality, because it was shot with my little camera, but here is Tom doing a pretty tricky rock section then making it across a little log bridge

We did Redbox to JPL. Those that attended were Sauce, Apexman & his 2 friends, & myself. We hooked up with Scott & Tin after their Strawberry loop ride at Redbox and rode all the way down. Big props to Sarah for kicking ass on her SS. You rock girl!

Aww, im so bummed! I woke up at 7 this morning to go meet at Stater Bros, and when i looked outside it was drizzling and insanely foggy, so i assumed the ride was off... Then like 30min later, it was sunny! But by that time i was too late...
Glad you all had a good time though! |

Dean and all you folk ... !!!! I didn't know you guys were doing your own ride! So I brought my little single-speed hardtail bike thinking I'd be doing a bit of climbing, a bit of technical ... etc. etc. But no! Everyone was on down-hill bikes ... or close to it. hahahah. When ya'all pulled out the armor you had me worrying.
Thanks Frank, but it was a tough ride ... technical and with all that exposure (which had me shaking like a leaf from fear; in fact, I fell off my bike and rolled once or twice down one of those exposed areas, but the dirt caught me thank god!). But in the end, it was really gorgeous and great practice for technical stuff (like river crossings) and balance skills. And thanks to those who helped me with my chain! I know it was annoying. Robert and Scott were really doing some pretty cool stuff ... somehow, those two can get their bikes up onto anything! |

I wish that I would have gone, but in the AM no one posted the JPL ride was still on and the weather looked nasty in Laguna. Mike and I talked and he switched to the Strawberry ride, by then it was too late for me to get up there.
Sauce you are a brave girl hanging with the big boys. Many of those trails in San Gabriels can be scary at first due to the exposure. So far Chillao and Strawberry are the only trials that I have enjoyed the Single Speed on. Because of the gnar I find I almost always grap the suspension bike when I head out there....just more faster fun. SSing and no suspension is better in the Santa Monicas and Santa Anas.
