Default monrovia canyon to chantry flats

this was my second attempt at a ride that ended in a helicopter ride off the mountain last year. the plan was to go up monrovia canyon, climb up 2n30 (white saddle road?), cut across via 2n24 to newcomb pass, and drop into chanty flats.

i parked at the corner of canyon and foothill in monrovia and started climbing at about 10 am.
passed the trask boyscout camp a couple miles up.

most of the 9.5 mile climb was in the sun

some senic spots

finally reach the top. 9.5 miles, 3560 ft climb. drank most my water by this point - kinda warm day

from here on it was fun. nice views and much gentler climbs and down hill
Mt wilson

Cogswell reservoir

stopped at newcomb pass to enjoy some shade before 6.5 mile single track descent

only went OTB twice on the way down. for the most part, the trails were in great shape. lots of hikers as i got closer to sturtavant camp.

from chantry, took road down to foothill and back to the truck. all told, 29.5 miles, 4722 ft climbing. not an epic distance, but it wore me out. little over 3 hrs peddling, 4 hrs with breaks. and lots of ideas for the next ride.

Hey Mike, could you say that again? I couldn't hear you the first time.

Great pics by the way. That looks like a cool ride!

Ahh Trask, I have some memories of that place. Notice I didn't say good memories

Looks like a great ride, do you have the GPS track uploaded online anywhere?

You don't even need to do that, I use motionbased.com to upload my stuff. It's free to sign up and there is a download but it's pretty easy. On the weekends the site gets slow, sometimes won't load at all but most of the time it works pretty well.

That's a great route. I didn't have a computer or GPS when I did the ride, so I didn't know the stats. I did know I was tired!

+1 on a gps file. Upload it to geoladders.com for free

I looked at this briefly on a map, and it isn't too hard to figure out (the ride itself might be a different story), but a file would be great.

Mr. Plow,

A tasteful, yet delightfully derogatory response from greenbike. Also, hope you are enjoying your day at the office. I just finished my first ride and am having lunch before joining some folks for a second. And I'm getting paid to do this!
