Default Save Tunnels/LPQ - San Diego

This is about the upcoming Del Mar Mesa Planing Board meeting (March 12th, 7pm). Anyone who wants to save tunnels and thinks that service roads are not acceptable trails should attend.

Like EBasil says, below... pack the house, show your displeasure with Marvin Gerst. Get him removed from the LPQCAC. Save Tunnels!

Allen bulldozed the intestines, but has since hooked up with riders and is a good guy.

That Gerst runs unopposed makes MORE reason to attend the meeting. Here are goals for Thursday the 12th:

-- as many people as possible to attend and voice concern that the DMM PB would re-elect someone so inflammatory, disruptive and unrepresentative of the DMM community area: Gerst regularly disrupts LPCP meetings with diatribes and personal attacks, over and over, but contributes only spite and hate on behalf of the DMM PB. Gerst is the DMM rep that advocates only fire roads be open to bikes and he voted to make it illegal for DMM residents' kids to ride their bikes to the waterfalls by using Cobblestone trail. Object to the committee's perpetuation of this thug's reign.

--people to object to Gerst's appointment as the DMM Trails Committee chair that night: since Gerst is consistent and solid in opposing any resident access to trails with their bikes. Gerst is proud that he led the charge to make bikes illegal on the CVREP Trail and the Shaw Valley Trail, along with others on the DMM PB, but this isn't reflective of the community's needs. Gerst has established that anyone he disagrees with will be bullied and threatened by him.

--object to Gerst's appointment as the DMM representative to the LPCP, since he's not only not representative of the community's needs, but haas a proven track record of publishing misleading emails regarding the issues in the preserve, failing to inform the DMM about concerns over trail damage and misconduct of DMM horse operators that is discussed at LPCP (his job to convey) and regularly disrupting meetings with personal attacks and diatribes.

--object to the newly drafted DMM RMP, which is on the agenda for review by the development planning board that night, also. It hasn't been issued yet, but will be, and if it doesn't contain a thorough environmental analysis of the impacts and mitigation required from the migrant camps and a good trails plan, you object to it on those grounds.

Thursday, March 12th, 7pm. It's important to pack the room, to be polite and to be firm. This anti-trail organization operates in anonymity and without any community oversight. Shine a light on them and make it apparent that they'll have regular visitors from here on out.

Polite bump - Erik, you 'round to provide any insight?

Will we have a reason for volunteer patrols?

Marvin Gerst was elected and basically plans to bring the ban hammer down hard on mountain bikers..... See this post:

Open letter of apology from SDMBA

The San Diego Mountain Biking Association Board of Directors apologizes for the absence of our voting member at this week’s critical CAC meeting at Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve. The absence was inexcusable and we were shocked and upset by this occurrence. Unfortunately, our deep regret cannot make up for the error. We must regroup and move forward.

Our Board of Directors has demanded the resignation of our representative on the CAC.

Rob Mikuteit will become the new SDMBA representative and Minette Ozaki will be the designated alternate. As you know, Rob has a deep understanding of the issues, and has long been involved as a participating member of the trails community. He is passionate about preserving multi-use trails in Los Penasquitos, Carmel Mountain and Del Mar Mesa. We look forward to a stronger focus for SDMBA at Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve.

In addition to appointing Rob to the CAC seat, Michael MacGregor will be stepping in as the new SDMBA liaison to Los Penasquitos Canyon. He will be organizing our trailwork efforts and coordinating with Ranger Gina Washington to respond to issues on the ground. Michael MacGregor is a SDMBA Board Member, the Chairman of our Trail Builders and Maintenance Committee and he lives near Los Penasquitos Canyon.

We pledge to increase our effort and action toward improving access for all trail users. We look forward to working together with you and these new representatives to forge a renewed leadership in the trails advocacy community.

Sincerely,

San Diego Mountain Biking Association Board of Directors.
