Default Bubbs In The Shrubs: Part 4

Stinky Maxwell sails by effortlessly on his 39lb XC Weapon

Nancy (Denmother) pops the top on another round of whoopass

Guys, this is a sign of the times we presently live in and I wouldn't have it any other way

Lacey makes it look easy while listening to her iPod:

And shows the "game face" to the finish line crowd:

And Johnny O'Mara tries to do the same....

These two came by to remind us all why we are here: To have fun!

And Gene is lookin' pretty serious about now...

Is that pleasure or pain?

Justin (mechmann) obviously dressed in the dark this morning (no Path jersey and no STR jersey ? ), but luckily ended up being color coordinated with his 29er frame anyway:

and prepares to jettison a water bottle in the "feed zone".

*sigh* Well thank you to all who were supportive and even to all who laughed! It made it all worth it.. Yes thats right, i was the idiot/brave soul on the 'Cross bike. I probably would have kept going had it not been for the bad breakfast/dinner/frog? sitting in my gut since 1/3 mile into the race. Oh well, theres always next year!

As always it was great to see the STR gang out there! Met a few new faces as well as caught up with some old familiar ones! And as always, thanks to everyone for sharing all the pics!

P.s. No CX bikes were harmed in the making of this comedy.

Default Bubbs In The Shrubs: Part 5

Pho'dUp blazes a trail...

Water...

Sarah (sauce) just passin through...

A lil' feed zone action

I don't think the "O-Show" was talkin' to me...

Some other subjects I liked: Michelle aka pepperette(m210's wife) 3rd in sport

Justin's smile grew bigger as the race wore on.

SlowSpokes glides through the gravel trap

I've got to have an old jersey I'd be willing to donate lying about somewhere,

CeeDub (lookin' a bit dusty on his right side) shows good descending form on the loose off-camber descent. It was interesting to watch so many different riding "styles" displayed in this section of trail.

What a fun day. Last year I came out and had a good result, so I figured why tempt fate, leave it alone and go cheer my friends on. Some of the things that stuck with me were watching Darin kick but on his very heavy Stinky. I wonder how quick he'd be on a lightweight rig. Then seeing the detirmenation on Lacy's face was really inspiring. Go Lacy!
I thought for sure CeeDub was going high on the podium as on the back side on the second climb he looked strong and was out in the front pack, sorry Chris, heal fast. Later on right behind him came Denmother who said and I quote, "What am I doing, I'm a downhill racer?". That was funny! I watched as Klutter and I were doing some cheering as BFlo literally ran up the hill, he passed easily 20 riders. That kids got game! Seeing Sauce tear it up was fun, she just plain kicked arse again. She flew down the downhill, but folks got in her way and slowed her somewhat. The guy announcing kept calling her Socks??? Allison was another who showed off some dh skill, she was flying. Mechmann, was tearing it up also, I knew he was somewhere up around the leaders and I went back out to cheer him on again, but he was just to damn fast and had already gone by.
I went out with the expert group, off the tail so as not to get in anyones way, and soon caught up to the riders, I seen a few guys that would of been my class so I rode with them a while, then it dawned on me that I had somehow switched over to race mode! I started laughing and a guy looked over at me and said "I don't see the humor in this". I realized I didn't come out to race so why was I doing it? I stopped riding with these hammerheads and started to take it easy. I went down the dh section and started hearing a bunch of people yelling "Go Mike", opps guys, I'm just out here for moral support I'm not racing. I laughed all the way down.Next I went out with the sport group and these people were a lot less serious. I had a blast with them, most were up for a conversation and some were telling jokes. Fun group for sure, next I went back to find the beginners and these guys were giving it their all, I think they were trying harder then the pro's.
I walked away with some raffle prizes, but most was just your gu like stuff, except the helmet which was really cool.

Kickin back under Marios tent thing was the highlight of the day, just hangin with my STR buds/budettes.

Thumbs up STR Rules!!!

What an awesome day with awesome STR Peeps!!!! Mario thanks so much for the canopy and refreshments!!! And to all of you who cheered and played athletic supporters and all the photographers, YOU GUYS WERE AWESOME!!! How cool was it to come around the corner on my second lap to the sounds of go Denmother and then here my name on the loudspeaker!!! Very motivating indeed! This is one of the funnest and memorable XC races I have ever done and it wouldn't have been them same without all my new STR firends (there were so many new people, can't remember everyone's names). Can't wait 'til next year.

P.S. In keeping with my raffle streak, I won the fork, it's a Manitou Black!!!

Denmother large and in charge

STR Crew

Great T-Shirts

Sharky the non-poser

Trophyspokes and Hewhowillnotrace

I'll have another beer please!!!

Supermann and Trophyspokes

B-rad, thanks for the new wallpaper!

All I can say I am sooooo happy my cx bike was not ready!

You really did look like it was workable to that point.

Jeff - great photos! Hope your son has better luck at his next race! Perhaps there's a tubeless wheelset in his future (Christmas is just around the corner )

Who has the photo of the Path team??

BTW, Luke - congrats on the Triple Crown jersey! Post up a photo of it!
