Good racing today for sure. Short course, nothing too difficult, and STR peeps just made the day that much better. I ended up 5th in Sport 35-39, my best finish in the sport class, I'm happy with that. Justin, did you look at the times, hmmm?

Default Thanks everyone!

Great show of support from all the STR peeps! Thanks for all the smiles and cheers!
I don't know what happened but they accidentally put me in the Expert Class even though I showed up after they started their race. I knew something was wrong when they were calling all the groups to line up and noone had "N" next to there numbers. Didn't matter since I flatted going into my 2nd lap. At least I got to use my CO2 cartridge of 1.5 years, love how quick it inflates.
Since this was my first time racing I picked up my old tube from the ground and tried to deflate it in order to put it back in my pouch. Out from the crowd they start yelling at me, "Leave it, just leave it and GO!!!". I left it on the side of the road but it still felt weird littering. I came back after the race and it was gone so someone must have thrown it away.
Let's all do it again next year!!!

"N" That would be 35-39 sport, same as Tim/m210 and Chris/slayer. That was a huge group.

Default Bubbs In The Shrubs: Part 1

I'll start with "our" ride report. I came down to Mt. Sac today so my son Ted could race. I got to go up to Kernville and ride on Friday & Saturday while he stayed home to rake the SAT on Saturday, so he was chomping to ride.

When they came down the first downhill, he was in 3rd place (Sport Junior Men 18 & Under).

By the time he finished the first lap, he was in 2nd place, about five seconds off the wheel of 1st place.

He only had one bottle cage, but said he was fine and wouldn't need any water as he went by.

Everything was going fine so far.... Unfortunately, that's when things started to take a dive. About halfway through his second lap, he flatted and it cost him several minutes to change the tube. By the time he came around after Lap 2, he was several minutes into 3rd place.

He told me he flatted and wanted me to have water ready after his next lap.... I reminded him his race would be over, but OK We put 50psi in his rear tire to start, but I don't think he got that much in when he swapped tubes and right after he went by after Lap 2, he pinch flatted on that curb at the end of the parking lot (as many people did today) and his day was instantly over as he had only packed one tube.
