I'd rather be climbing...

Once my school district makes a final decision on the date of a certain training seminar that I must attend, I'll be able to register (assuming spots are still open).

I am so upset at myself for not signing up for VQ/CC, that I WILL NOT miss this one--if at all possible.

Gene, I'm looking forward to the training rides!!!! If there are training rideS (plural), I will bring the gearie out for one and the SS out for another so I can get a good gauge on what to use for the day of the event.

Thanks for all the time you put in to keep us informed, Gene.

The fact that it was the first one and held in June in the middle of a heat wave, the WS bent the rules a little. This year was moved up to May, so I wouldn't expect it be as supported as last year. Of course there will be water at each check point as last year, but that was just for emergencies. The idea was to "Traverse" The Main Divide "unsupprted". I'll find out and post the updates here.

Danny, bring the geared and see how tough the climbs will be. Like some that found out on the VQ/CC, don't bite off more than you can chew. I would also sign up now because you could wind up sitting this one out as well if you wait. I added you as well.

Knees are ok today, It's during the rides and especially the day afterwards is when it really hurts. Sunday, I couldn't walk without limping. I am going to have them looked at. My whole body ached the last few days. The VQ is tough and I will do it again next year . I know with good knees, I can shave at least an hour. Thanks OMR

There are only ten spots left in the registration for the Traverse....go to ACTIVE.Com now if you want to get it...we will not be doing a waiting list for this event.

Seriously, No water except for emergencies?

Even with the cooler temps I don't think I can carry enough water between the camelbak and water bottle for a ride that long.

Default Water at Traverse

Misunderstanding....there will be a water station at 4 corners for all participants....but other then that no water stops on the course. Our emergency personnel carry water for those that would be in need of it due to emergency but that would mean they were a DNF...so plan on packing all the water you can to 4 corners and then filling from there......last year that was the way we ran it and everything was fine...in fact, not much water was used at the water stop...due to it being a race for intermediate and advanced riders most just kept flying by and never even stopped.

I must of been delirious when I made that statement. I also told Sherry that I'd drop out of the Traverse this year, again the lack of oxygen to the brain at the time make you say things . The thing I will do different even for the Traverse is spin more, hammer less so I don't do anymore damage to my knees. When the time comes to register for the VQ, I'm sure I'll enter.

I can't do it, have to volunteer. If I were to back out of my volunteer position, Sherry would kill me (hush Sherry)...yep, instant death (Sherry, I said shhhhh)....can't let Sherry down (not a word, Sherry)...yep, that the ONLY reason I'm not riding

Hey, it's easier to train to be a volunteer, and I get more oxygen, too.

Gee, that's funny Rach, Sherry was just say'n she more than understood if you really wanted to ride instead or working the Traverse. It's so much fun to watch exactly just how red Wrecker can get....

Is it about 25 miles from the start to 4 Corners (like the VQ)? Anyone have a rough outline of The Traverse course?
