I didn't have any issues with making those because if you make the first one, there is enough time to still make the last one. (Not the case for VQ, as I also found out)
The cutoffs have been shortened by 1 hr at each station. Also, last time we started at 6am, this time, it starts at 7am. so really the cutoffs are 2 hrs shorter.

Here is the breakdown in comparison:

Start time:
2007- 6:00am
2008- 7:00am

Cutoff at 4 corners:
2007- 12pm
2008- 11am

Cutoff at lower Holy Jim:
2007- 1:30pm
2008- 12:30pm

I may have considered it if they left the cut-off at 11PM

Ya, last time we had 6 hrs to get to 4 corners, but this time only 4hrs. I suspect there will be riders not making that 11am cutoff at 4 corners. Something for those on the fence about signing up to consider, but it's suppose to be tough. Last time, we could've napped an hour or so along the way and still made the cutoffs.

IMHO, this was tougher than the Counting Coup, same distance and elevation, but without the downhill recovery of the Motorway and Holy Jim. Plus the climbs along the Main Divide from Motorway to 4 corners is tougher than climbing Maple Springs to 4 corners. Don't forget the "wall" before West Horse Thief. No doubt it's tougher.

I don't think i'll ever be able to forget that damn wall looming ahead of me!
30 some-odd miles in, thinking that there has to be some sort of downhill before i get to Trabuco...then i saw it...and decided that pushing for a little bit just might be ok!

The first real stretch of downhill isn't until you clear the peak! Then you get to climb the infamous "Wall" when that brief DH is done.

If you think the VQ is too hard and CC too easy, then the Traverse is just right.

Either sign up or don't. If you are on the fence, make a decision. Don't wait for it to sell out to say you want to do it. Makes it look like you are using that as a excuse not to race it....."Well, I would have done it if it wasn't already sold out."

whoah... ok... i signed up the day registration opened.

I just got the email about the Traverse from Warrior's Society:

Start time 6:00 a.m. (40 miles with 8,000 +- of total elevation gain) 175
person limit.

That would mean the cutoff is only 1 hour shorter. I could definitely deal with that. Unless its a typo because it has no
