Default How often do you ride?

I'm thinking about doing a few races next year and was curious how many times per week all you guys and gals ride. I use mountain biking to cross train, but I ride 3 times per week. Thanks.

i try to ride at least 3 times a week. living and working in long beach takes its toll on the old gas funds, driving at least 25-45 miles to the trail head.

I used to ride 4-5 days a week, taking Mondays and Fridays off to swim or sit on my butt. But then Socal went up in smoke.

I don't ride enough! I'm going to start night riding at El Prieto, now that I'm all-lighted out. Right now I average 1.75 times per week.

When we had the longer days I was riding 5-6 days a week. Unfortunately, now that my night access is limited it'll go down to 2-3 with more weights to fill the time.

at least 3 to 4 in the dirt, 1 fun ride and the others either hills or endurance training and 1 long road ride a week.

Pretty much every day. Mostly dirt with some road thrown in for endurance.

What kind of racing do you want to do?

Wish I could ride every day

I don't ride on work days--too late and I'm too tired, so I only ride 4 days a week, with one recovery day (easy ride of 1hr).

I talked to a pro rider, she usually has 2 days off/week. She also said that, with her training, she needs those two days. Of course, during base training, the two days off are weight training days. I'm not pro, so I don't feel bad with extra days off

edit: just started trying yoga too 1-2x's/week

Probably Super D or Downhill. It will have to be something I can do on a heavy 6" trail bike. I'm a BMX racer, so 4x would make more sense. I just cant bring myself to buy a 4x bike when there are only a few local races.

I wish that I could ride more and am working on that. I don't have a carrier for my car yet, and no lights on the bike either, so riding after work is next to impossible since it now gets dark at 6:30!!

What kind of rides do you guys do? I have a short ride that I do during the week that is a 700' climb, then a 700' decent with some jumps, drops, rock gardens and berms. It usually takes about 40 minutes. I usually do a two hour ride on the weekends.

Well, you had the excuse of being busy trying to keep your house from burning down.

My lungs haven't been happy since the fires started so I may hold out awhile before I do a lot riding out side. Hope there's some hotties at the gym these days.!

Yeah, I inhaled about a lifetimes worth of smoke last week. The gnarly part was when the flames had just past and the smoke blew right at my face. Little branch and ember particles were unavoidably inhaled…that can’t be good for me.

Anyway, I am feeling better today --- time to hit the gym. Only a few weeks left until 12 hours of Temecula!

Shoot. I should have give you my half face respirator. It would have been like training anyway. Your lungs working to pull the air through those filters. Email me about Temecula dude.
