Cool Rim Nordic = Ashtray?

My sigother, Deb and I have been watching the news on the Running Springs-Arrowbear fire and it was with trepidation, that we saw KNBC reporting from Snow Valley. The shots showed the fire engines and emergency vehicles working through the twisty curves, right before the passing lane opens up by Rim Nordic.

As far as I can make it, there was no fires to be seen, except behind the fire engines as they came from Arrow Bear, but those of us who know, know that Arrow Bear ain't very far from my favorite SoCal race course.

I was the last one on the race course last Sunday. I don't want to hold that dubious honor. Let's hope that the San Berdoo fire crews can save our place and that Bev, Kerry, Tom and Rusty are all OK.

I was actually talking to a CDF firefighter about Rim earlier today. He wasn't positive, but he thought that Rim and Snow Valley was spared any major damage. He thought that it had actually gone over the top of Craft Peak and not burned down as far as the upper fireroad.

I guess we'll find out in a week or so. I'll update if I hear anything.

I've got a co-worker that was allowed up the hill today, but we haven't heard back from her as of yet. I'll ask her Regis, and post here if I hear from her....Let's keep our fingers crossed.

I sent Bev, and Kerry and e-mail on Monday, and here's her response;

Hi Darin....thanks for checking in on us; its right in our backyard (1/2 mile or so ), so we are ready to leave if it gets to the house. No power, using our generator to check tv and messages for now. See you at Mt SAC ??? Bev

I know a lot has changed since Monday, so I'm hoping everything is ok for them.

KNBC today, the fire engines are packed in the parking lot across the street and the camera footage was of the reporter standing in front of the 'Snow Valley' sign and when the camera panned to the left, you could see the hillside where we race was burning, though the fires were small. He did say there was no fuel left. Hopefully, it just skipped the mountain or did minimal damage.

Thanks Maxwell and the rest for the updates. Please update this thread if you hear anything.

Thanks guys for the update! Bev and crew are some of the best people we've met in So-Cal. I hope their home was spared.
