Default Super "D" Racing

Are there any Super "D" race series in So. Cal. besides southridge? I would like to try a few next year. Thanks.

Still waiting for the 2008 schedules to be posted. Not too many Super D races in California unfortunately. They did have one at Sea Otter last year, not sure about this year. Their web site goes live in November.

I think there was a tentative NMBS calendar posted up on cyclingnews.com a bit ago. It may list a few there. As mentioned, though, there aren't very many locally.

Sauce just did one last weekend. You can check out her blog: http://sarahruthbiking.blogspot.com for her write-up on that. I'm sure it lists the race info. Maybe you can check the series and/or race out.

Lots of complaints about the Sea Otter Super D course, too. Mark Weir boycotted because it was too Super XC and fireroady or something. Not enough "D" I guess?

Who's got experience on the the Southridge Super D course? What's it like?

Haven't ever raced the Super D at Fontana but heard plenty of comments. Sometimes it's fun (they use part of the DH course) and other times there is way too much climbing and it's more like XC. This is typically the same issue at many venue's. The one at the Brian Head NMBS 2005 & 2006 was my favorite!

Super D in SoCal basically died out when Snow Summit quit having races.

We did go to one at Vail Lake put on by IE bikes (last year I think) but it also had too much climbing and some hike a bike.

The peeps at Rim Nordic said they were hoping to have Super D as a regualr fixture on their 08 calendar.

Thumbs up Fontana Super D

It's a fun course, that changes each time.
Sometimes you'll head down the sport DH course after some climbing on the back side of the XC course. Another time it hit the last DH section of the XC course, with not as much climbing, but lots of pedaling.

I REALLY hope Rim Nordic is able to do it regularly.

Either way, Super D is a blast!

Thanks for the replies! Super "D" sounds like the ideal type of racing for someone like me who has a 6" trail bike and a BMX racing background.
