Default I might race it...(Bike Pron)

Just got my new cyclocross bike. I'm going to have to learn the ropes first, but I think I want to give cx racing a try. It will be in the dirt so I'll post it here.

She's a pretty little beast. Weighs in slightly more then my road bike. 22.3 lbs.

Head badge is too cool. I love Bianchi's stuff.

BIG Tires... Well, they are knobbies

The double may have to go as I also plan to turn this into a touring bike after I try cx. She'll be set up with some fenders and panniers and I plan on putting some long distance miles on her. Gawd, she's a sexy beast! Black is Bee-yoo-tif-full.

My work basically bought this for me. My boss kept giving me money and I'd just buy stuff for the family. He got a little pissed the last time and so this last time instead of giving me money he gave me gift cards to my LBS where I'd have to buy something for myself.

So I did.

I finally watched my first CX race at the Muckenthaler Center in Fullerton a couple weeks ago. Pretty interesting. It was held in a relatively small park and almost completely on grass. BTW, the park is only a couple minutes away from the Fully Loop, and you can still see the course marks on the grass.

22.3 pounds is really good, considering I can see some heavy parts on there. Mine's a tick under 22 pounds, and I have a bunch of light parts...except for the porker forker (Specialized Tricross).

Let me know when you're ready to do some CX rides on the loop. I finally got mine together, and I really want to ride it!

Congrats, Mike! That is a nice bike. If you want to do some cross races, you should try some of the Urban CX series (www.backontrackproductions.com).
The courses tend to be a bit more technical than the courses at the Super prestige series, thus giving us mountain bikers a little edge over the pure roadies. The course at Palos Verdes is pretty fun, with a few singletrack sections. The course at Entradero Park is also pretty technical, with a couple of steep and super sandy descents.
My advice is that you take your new bike for some rides on the trails to get used to the braking, handling, etc.
It will be challenging for the first couple of rides, but once you get the hang of it, you'll be able to ride most trails with no problem.
Let me know if you want to hook up for some rides on our Cross rigs.

Hey Khai,
I'd have loved to have rode there, but I rode the bike to work today and didn't get home till 7. I've got some things I need to change, first is the crank arms. My foot hits the wheel and caused me to go OTB today. Land on my arse right in the middle of traffic sitting stright up. Did a full flip.

toeverlap? that's a freakin pain that most smaller frames seem to have, hope they specced super long cranks so you've got an option to go shorter...

BTW... normally don't like BiaCHi's but that one's pretty saucy...

Congrats on the new ride!

Practice makes perfect. I've gone as far as setting up obsticles in the yard ora park to practice charging in, my braking during side-saddle, dismount, hurdle, remount techniques. It really paid off. Timing and technique make a big diff as the events are timed, anyway you can save seconds helps.

You may want to remove your bottle cage at some events with a long run-up as shouldering the bike is sometimes the best way to go there...

Enjoy the burn (and seeing yer breakfast on the top tube )!
