Is it open to the general public? I thought it was just collegiate racers.
I love the DH description: 1:30PM DH begins do wussie puff courseSeperate kickass non sucky course for Men’s A; others

The DH course is super fun, it's an all new section. I was out there as they were finishing it up, might try to go practice in the pm, and I've been given the ok to race, not part of a collegiate team, but I do go to college. I can see the headlines now, "38 year old shows the college kids how it's done".......NOT!!!

Brandon (Bflofoxrider) and myself went to check out the 4X and scope the dh course. Another Collegiate race was up north so attendance was down by half but very fun still. The most humorous was a crash at the first turn where 2 riders were unable to detach their bikes...the others had well finished by the time they finally were able to part them
!! Never seen anything like it. Interesting seeing some XC bikes and gear being used for this. The DH course for the A line as Jason said is a VERY fun course hopefully to be used for the winter series. I believe it would turn out to be an absolute favorite for those racing . A few waterfall sections and challenging rock gardens. Kudos to our Incycle buddy Blair in the last picture for designing and putting this course in. Come out tomorrow if possible it'll be a great one to watch!! 1st pic the frustration of being "attached". The last 4 are from DH practice. |

I have to mention my favorite memory from this race because riders like this are what it's all about. Towards the end of the DH runs a female racer I believe from Cal Poly SLO came up after her run (they could do best of two) and got to talking. She had only been on a mountain bike for a total of ten days came out there and raced every category with her team. DH,4x,XC and the short track.Walked some sections of DH, got lost during the XC race ended up who knows where (she pointed west towards the airport)
but took her 3 hours to find her way back. But here she was smiling away and had just really enjoyed her time there. Impressed the hell out of me. But just goes to show it's not how well you do but what you get out of it for yourself and having fun!! My hat's off to her. |
