Default accelerade

hey has anyone used accelerade and does it help?
it claims to extend endurance, speed muscle recovery, and enhance rhydration
is it better than gatorade or powerade?

This thread might help. Another recent accelerade discussion. I use it, but I don't know if the benefits are greater than Gatorade.

I learned after the Traverse (from OMR posts) to try this. Bought a huge thing of the powder at Perf... and been happy. It's not jet fuel, but I feel better longer. Right now you can get a 2 fer 1 coupon of the pre-mixed stuff at their website http://www.accelerade.com/promotions/coupon.aspx
but I've not been able to locate it in the stores yet (not looked very hard). Let us know if you find any. Well worth it at least to try

I hated the taste of it when it's not cold. But tastes okay if it's nice and chilled

the stuff on their site says drink some 45 mins or so prior to your exercise and then during. the grapefruit one is surprisingly tasty...fruit punch is a classic

This stuff really works in keeping you feeling good on longer endurance rides... or hot ride like today.

i was thinking on a ride throw some ice cubes in the bladder then dump some accelerade...
or icewater in the camelbak and acelerade in a water botle in the cage on my bike
but this means we need to do a CWP ride soon so i can test it out...
i usually stop at least 3 times on the way up and if this stuff works hopefully i'll only stop once or twice
but i think if i start riding more i can get to the point where i ride it non stop

i use gu2o and mix natural flavored whey protein in a 4:1 carb/protein ratio. this method is much cheaper then accelerade powder, and definitely cheaper then the individual bottles.

protein can be used as a fuel source and can greatly improve recovery.

accel gels work great too...performance had cases for $25.

try their strawberry kiwi.....it tastes like the flinstones push pops.

accel gels have a much better consistency then gu....much easier to get down.

Eww, I tried an Accelagel and thought it was nasty.

I think I am converting to Hammer products.
I tried out a bottle of Heed today and that, combined with a gel kept me feeling pretty good for most of the ride. Heed is super mild too.
The last few miles in the heat were brutal. One more gel would've been good.

I don't think anything extends endurance. You just get to experience the pain longer before the suffering sets in, or hopefully without the suffering.

I'll bring my favorite gels and Clif shot bloks for you to try on our ride this week. I have some extra Cytomax powder samples to give away but sounds like Accelerade gets the thumbs up here?
Trust me in no time you won't need to stop at all and we'll throw in the singletrack into Marshall for the fun stuff.

I tried the fruit punch stuff and i didnt like it. Bought it from supergo a few years back and I still have half a can left. I now use cytomax which I think taste much better.
