Unless you like things growing in your Camelback bladder keep the sports drinks in your water bottle. Having used both products I prefer Hammer Head.

Sorry you couldn't have joined us today... although hot, it was a fun ride & the root beer floats afterwards were worth the effort.

Also sorry to hear that Jason got sick... bummer!

Next time...

I'll just stay with the occasional hit of crack, unless of course if it's race day, then I'll need my meth.

Hammer Products are the best, ride long enough and someday you'll agree.

I found that if I put my Camelback in the freezer when not in use...I have nothing growing........and if I do forget.... a wee bit of bleach takes care of the probl....just IMO

btw.......went to Ralphs to pick up some of the pre-mixed Acclerade...will try for flavor this week and perhaps for hydration at the Stone 11th Anniversary on Sat and following ride Sunday

Everyone has their favorites that work for them. I like Cytomax, never tried Accelerade.

CWP? that's the second or third time I've seen that mentioned. I ride Bonelli and Marshall quite a bit and I know whatever it stands for must mean local something or another

back on topic, Accelerade has a buy 1 get 1 free coupon on their website. I printed out a few because i need some more

CWP= Claremont Wilderness Park at the top of Mills. You can get to Potato Mountain to the east or Marshall Cyn. going west plus a few other options off the fireroad loop there.I'm able to ride there from my home by cutting across San Antonio Dam so I ride there often but the loop itself is a little boring sorry so it helps to know where the singletrack is leading down to Marshall (or cut through the gate). CWP itself is popular with hikers, runners and bikers.
THANKS for the accelerade tip...I'd like to try it myself.
HEY I think I read you're doing the SC Velo race you'll have to join us when we go to retrace the course?

At a few performance stores they have them on sale. I also saw these pills at the checkout counter that says it will extend your endurance etc..

It's good stuff, and I was angry when they released it. lol. I'm a personal trainer and I try to find ways to incorporate training and nutrition into my riding. When I was looking at doing a 24 with a partner, we were chatting about fuel ideas for the race. Well, ALL she was taking was light-carbo and relatively low-calorie energy drinks (typical stuff marketed to MTB riders...Gu, Rocket, Cliff Blocks, etc).

I thought to myself how badly the muscles are broken down over that 24 hour period, and I told her I'm planning to mix a Gainer Shake with my carb intake, alternating between the two.

Reason being...I know my body would burn close to 9,000 calories riding a 24 hour race. Energy drinks simply won't provide the caloric intake you would need, and you will NEED protein to fuel your muscles. This will also GREATLY aid toward the latter half of the race, and in recovery.

It was one of those things that I liked having as my little secret, but someone took the idea and made it big. I wish I would have thought to market it.

accel gels work great too...performance had cases for $25.
4:1 ratio Carb to Protein seems to be the general consensus these days for fluid replacement drinks.

followup to prev post about the premixed bottles:
Tried a couple flavors and all of them left me with a chalky taste in my mouth bordering on cotton mouth . This was both while riding as well as just drinking one at work. The powder has worked better for me. I will try a 4th flavor of the premixed soon, but the chalkiness is HARD to get past.

Try Endurox R4. Timing is EVERYTHING, you need to get off your bike and drink the stuff ASAP. Your window is something like 30 minutes... longer than that and you're starving your body of what it needs.

Let me know what you end up doing.

I have tried accelerade and dont care for it. I like the endurox and when cycling i only use one scoop, then after will use the regular two scoop strength. It recovers your muscles. I raced long distances with outrigger canoes, and I swear by endurox. But for during, I got turned onto Citomax also which tastes better then accelerade. They do the same thing.Try Citomax during, and endurox after! It does my old body good!

Right now the 56 Serving is $25. With the Automatic Coupon and in-store pickup (free shipping), the total came to $19.93!
