hurkey creek 24 hour pre-ride....night??

i am posting to see if there is any interest in pre-riding the hurkey creek 24 hour course on labor day weekend.

i would like to refresh my memory with the course sometime in the evening and then ride it again after the sun sets. i am thinking anywhere from 2-4 laps or so.

i have yet to ride at night...an i am honestly a little spooked at going at it alone..........i don't wanna become mountain lion dinner .

has anyone done any night riding out at hurkey outside of the event?? i wasn't sure if they have some sort of park regulations out there or something.

anyway, if they allow night riding out there (or don't regulate it) and anyone seems interested, i will move this post to the rides section.

I'll be doing the 5 man race, but it will be my first time there. We have a campout there on the weekend of the 8th & 9th of Sept. I'll get my practice runs then. See you at the race.

They allow night riding. Hurkey Creek does have a day use area/parking. However I think that closes before sunset.

I'll be out there with Gene.....this is one of the better night rides to do.

I live close to Hurkey, so if you don't mind a slower rider, I'll go with you at night. Last time I rode there at night the Ranger was cool, let me pay my two bucks and use the day use area. I need to use my light more, but I don't like going alone at night either...

can we just ride it in from somewhere, just in case the station isn't manned??

You know where you come out of the trail onto the pavement about 1 mile before turning into Hurkey?

You can park there. We did it for a night ride last year. Actually did it when Justin went for a really quick one lap ride also. I left to go get a sandwich and didn't want to pay $2 to park there for 30 minutes.
