Default The very last Rim Nordic race of the year

This Sunday, August 26th, marks the last Rim Nordic race at Snow Valley, in Big Bear.

If you want to see what a 'real' mountain bike race is like, this is it. The race course is just about all Singletrack or Doubletrack, with just a little fireroad mixed in at the top of the mountain. It's a very friendly atmosphere and beginners are more than welcome to participate in both the race and relaxing afterwards under the tall pines and redwoods at the numerous picnic tables, while you enjoy something off've the BBQ.

The awards are cool, as they're all homemade. They aren't nearly as ritzy as TBB's medals, but they have real heart behind them and are made by the promoters themselves.

If you ever want to try a race, don't miss your last chance to race one of the best races in SoCal, because everything after this, is not going to be Rim Nordic.

Default Great course

I rode up at Rim Nordic a couple of weekends ago. They still had the trail markers up from the 8/5 race as well as the 7/15 race. My buddy and I rode both and they were lots of fun. He raced the 7/15 race and had similar comments about the race atmosphere. I'm planning on racing the sport fat guys, ahem, I mean clydesdales on Sunday, probably heading up day of from OC.

Thumbs up We're IN!!

I just signed Lacey and I up this morning.

Hey BeantownRider, if you race with us "fat" guys, uh, I mean Clydes, you gotta promise not to beat me too bad!

It may be time to bring out the "secret weapon"!

Motor or doping?

You know, you gotta start your doping stuff a bit before the race--never try anything new on race day

(Doping) is like pretending to be retarded for the special olympics (Cartman)

Default Good Luck

STP.
I might make it up there to spin out a ride and cheer on the brahs. Problem is that my leg still protests long car rides, and I assume even more so after a ride.
Last Saturday I hit the dirt for the first time in exactly 3 months to the day I broke my leg.
Dirt never smelt so good or felt so smooth.
Flog on Sir Flogness, Flog on.

Hey Papo,
good to hear you are on the road to recovery!

Good luck to all of you racing this weekend. For different reasons, I haven't been able to race at Rim Nordic this year. Too bad, because is one of the best races around.
STP is right. If you are thinking about your first race, Rim Nordic is the place.

Papo, I totally understand about the leg. It might help to make stops on the way, if'n you want to come up! Congrats on getting back in the dirt! Ahhh, the feel of knobbies rolling on dirt....

Pilas, sorry you can't make it, but thanks for adding your thoughts.

To the rest of ya (Maxwell, Beantown, Genusmtbkr5 and Wrecker), I'll see you Sunday. I'll be in the yellow Block jersey, riding a red/white FSR S-Works! So please feel free to introduce yourself. My girlfriend is racing also

Good deal Papo! Glad you're back in da' dirt (that's gotta feel soooo good, after such a long time). Sorry about the leg on the long drives. Would it help if you stopped and stretched once in awhile? It'd be good to see you up there.

Pilas, sorry you couldn't make any of the races, you were always a welcome sight every year at Rim Nordic. Maybe next year?

Wrecker, Genusmtbkr5, Beantownrider and Maxwell, feel free to introduce yourselves if you see me. My girlfriend and I race for the "Block" team and have odd yellow jerseys! I'm riding a red/white Specialized S-Works with an old Fox Terra-logic (still one of my favorite forks)

It's gonna be a good one up there!

Papi, hope you feel well enough to get up there. Congrats on being back on the bike!!! I'm not sure what I'd do without mine, my parole officer would probably be getting a few calls or something

As for the rest of you that will be missing it, see you on the trails soon (unless, of course, you all see me first)!

I'll be there in my AFP/Velosport jersey on "Bruiser" (a black Titus RacerX with blue hubs/headset) with John and my daughter Ashlie (you'll know her, as she'll probably be the only one to have her nose in a book).

If I don't see you guys first, please say hi

Looking forward to the race. I've only done a few races before and haven't raced in over a year so I'm expecting to struggle.

I'll be riding my gray Vassago Bandersnatch that I just converted to 3x9. No team jersey since this is strictly for fun.

I'm doppy enough without any "dope", and I've been told that I act like a little retardo on some ocasions.

I may just have to bring out my "light(?) XC" bike.
