Denmother, my girlfriend and I will be there for sure! This will be my fourth time there. They have the coolest trophies! Are you going to race too?

If you'ze guys are talking at me, (vs. Den Mother), the classes can range from being small, to being good sized. There were 216 racers at the 06' race. I last raced there in 05'.

xhuskr, man, this is such a fun, laid-back race, which isn't part of any race series. The course is wide-open both visually and speed wise. There are some steep little climbs, but then you get to haul on cross country runner's trails! Goferit!

i'll be doing it as probably my 2nd race ever. A good friend is in the welding class there (they make the trophies). The head of the welding program is the one who holds this race.

I gotta see if I better my placing from last year.

And the trophies kick ass. Here's mine from last year:

Yes, seeing as I don't have an XC bike. I did it twice before, years ago and I was sick both times so I didn't do very well.

Sounds interesting. I haven't tried a race yet, but it'd be a nice goal to train towards.

Anybody know if the course can be pre-ridden? I'm guessing they use the hills on the south side of Temple Ave, where the XC running team trains.

I only trained for this race once and ended up in the same class as STP that year, I got spanked, I came in 7th out of 18. But this race is different in that it's really a short sprint type race. I get to race in the old man catagory 50+ so it's a lot easier for me. I do the expert class and thats 4 laps, so I can get my moneys worth. Got first last year and second the year before, but last year there were only 4 guys in my class. Lot's of give aways at the raffle, but it does get drawn out. Make sure to leave your raffle ticket with someone while you are racing as they start the raffle while we are still out on the course. I get my way paid, so hell yeah, I'm in again.

I entered Sport to get my money's worth. Had a very good day.

P.S. That's not the entire certificate.

(Expert race was thin, I would have won by an hour)

How much are the reg fees? I've never raced before, but this could be fun since the beginner class is only 12 miles.

Is there a way to preview or pre-ride the course so I know what to expect?

It's one of the cheaper ones. I think it's 25 or 35 bucks.

Denmother, can you hook us up with the info so we can pre-ride?

Thanks!
Unfortunately, no can do. It is part of the college cross country running course and also a cow pasture which is not open except on race day.

Description: A rolling course with two steep climbs per 6-mile loop, and 1/4 mile steep downhill per loop. You pass through tunnels twice per loop as you race on mostly packed dirt.

Rules: This is not a NORBA sanctioned event. We ask that all participants entering the beginner class be true BEGINNERS and not experienced racers looking for an easy award. IF YOU HAVE RACED 3 OR MORE TIMES, PLEASE ENTER THE SPORT CLASS! There is no night pre-ride event this year. All events are held rain of shine - sorry no refunds. Your entry fee is a tax-deductible contribution to Mt. SAC Skills USA.

Mt. SAC is the ultimate venue for HS XC runners. You could always drop in when hundreds of runners and coaches are warming up.

http://events.mtsac.edu/ccinvite/

The cow pastures were continuous pot holes.
