Thumbs up Rim Nordic #3, the Stage Race

So who's coming up for the race this weekend and which races are ya gonna do? Deb and I are going to do both Saturday and Sunday. Deb will be running against the beginner women and I'll be duking it out against the Sport guys.

BTW, I love the dirt crit. There's just something about running WFO, with the dreaded fear of getting lapped, combined with hunting down the guys in front of you!

I'll be giving it a shot. First time racer on a mtn bike. Be in the beginner class. Doing XC on Sunday. See you up there even though I don't know who you are.

Thumbs up

Lacey and I are both in for Sunday also.

She was in Cabo for a week, then camp, so she hasn't been on her bike for almost three weeks!

When I asked her if she wanted to go ahead and race she said, "sure why not?" Oh, to be young again!

I'm gonna demo a Kula 29'er (geared) and see what all of the fuss is about. It's 4 lbs lighter than my HOSS, so that'll feel a bit different. But so will having only 3 inches of travel up front, instead of my usual 5 3/4".

Isn't the fork set at 100mm? If so it's more like 4".

OK, you've forced me to use the tape measure....

it comes in at 3.5 inches of hard core hucking travel!!

Hey, I did the RN stage race. It was fun, well most of it anyway. It’s always great to see Maxwell and Lacy at the races too. I’m sure Maxwell will chime in here sometime.

Yesterday started off with a hill climb. Basically it was a short 2 mile race to the “top”. I did great but it felt like 2 miles of hell. It was a little entertaining to watch half a dozen people walk over to nearby bushes and boulders to puke.

Next came the dirt crit. I’ve never done a crit of anykind (or XC short track). I really didn’t even know what a crit was until a few months ago. Unlike normal XC racing where eventually everyone gets pretty strung out, the short crit style race is very intense side by side racing over a short circuit for several laps. It was fun to race and watch. It’s very spectator friendly for XC.

Following that a bunch of us headed down to Running Springs for pizza, brews and bench racing. I almost forgot we still had to do the XC race the next day.

Today’s XC race was typical of RN, always a great course but thankfully nice and short for us who did the stage races (and drank too much beer).
Anyway I ended up taking 2nd EXP SS for the stage race. What a great weekend!
