This sounds like another chance for my ASX to kick ass on the trail. I will be there.

Thumbs up This is the first one and should be fun!

Since it's the first one, I'm planning on riding this one instead of working it... promises to be a fun one. Look forward to riding with many of you.

I'd like to do this as a night ride instead of the CC course. Being mostly fireroad it would be great on a full moon, or couple days either side of it, especially if it's clear.

A night ride would be cool. We need to see when the next full moon is.

Wednesday May 2 is the next full moon. Friday the 4th or Saturday May 5 would probably still have some light from the moon. Of course Murphy's Law is it will be cloudy of foggy even if we did it on a full moon . Maybe a Cinco de Mayo theme ride, everyone has to wear a sombrero.

Friday June 1 is the next one. That's the week before the ride. How cool would that be to do it at night one weekend then in the day the following weekend?

I work graves Tues-Fri. I can get those days off if given enough notice. June 1 also sounds good provided I get the night off. Sat May 5 is my birthday, wouldn't be a bad way to spend it!

So is anyone surprised by the $75 fee? I was kinda of surprised b/c their events are usually about half that price. Then I saw the elite and SS category only purse.

I wouldn't say expert = elite.

Here are the details:

We thank Rock N Road Cyclery and Scott Tedro of Sho-Air International for each donating $2,000 ($4,000) towards the expert finishing cash. We have 3 Expert Class geared age groups (16 to 30, 31 to 45 and 46 t 59) and a Single Speed Open Class for both men and women. We have an Intermediate class with
the same age groups including a 60 and up and Tandem Open Class.

The finishing cash for the top three in each Expert Class geared age groups and the Single Speed Open Class will be determined by participation. The event is limited to 300 participants and if we sell out, the Expert finishing cash for each geared age groups will be $500 for first place , $250 for second place and $175 for third place . If we do not sell out the event the finishing cash will be reduced accordingly. There must be a minimum of 5 participants in each age group or the age group will be combined with another age group.

Default WTF was I thinkin?

I signed up for it, but have NO INTENTION of racing it. My goal is just to finish it. I've been trying to get some training in the last couple weeks and will be kicking it up a notch this week as well. Toad Fest will be good training as well. Have I gotten myself in over my head?!

The PDF form has 4 age groups for Expert. The category just says "Expert" (no mention of geared) so I assume a singlespeeder can race in his age group as an Expert.

I work nights also, but if you do it on a Saturday night I may be able to do this, it sounds like fun!

Someone mention riding with a sombrero???

I don't think a Cinco de Mayo night ride is gonna work for me now. Hopefuly some others can make it happen. There is a slim chance I can pull it off but I can't commit.

Since it's my birthday on the 5th, I've got dinner plans with family, so I can't make the night ride either. I hope those who venture on it tomorrow night stay safe and have a great ride! I'll toast one for ya!

Just be forewarned that there will be time cutoffs to make. This, unlike Vision Quest.....is a race, and should be treated that way. There will be cutoffs at Motorway, 4 Corners, Holy Jim and maybe Horsethief. If cutoffs are not made....riders will be sent down the closet of the above.

I do not know what the cutoff times are, but they will be sent to you prior to the event.

The cash prizes are from a combination of Sponsors. RockNRoad and ShoAir are not the only two that have put up money.
