I think I probably could have gone faster on my trail bike! (Intense 5.5) The longer legs on the VPX does offer more stability (and comfort), but the Beg/Spt course didn't really have anything steep. The only thing I'd suggest for your XC bike is to fit a 2.35 or 2.5 tire up front, if you can...this is all assuming you don't have some lightweight carbon fiber frame with a steep head angle. What do you ride?

We'd like to. Or, I would We'll see what happens. There's a guy from OR we may ride with that Sunday as well, unless he's got a bike that might be appropriate and wants to race.

Allison, was it you who called the paramedics? Someone mentioned that "the guy's wife" called because of a concussion. I was sure glad to see an ambulance leave empty.

mechman, I hope you feel better (while the physical pain may be gone, the frustration is probably still there). It's especially painful to go down on the first run of the day.

I know what you mean about flying like a kite on that rock pile! I think I aimed to the right side with the expectation of changing lanes in the air!

Neither of us called; the Southridge people at the first aid tent called, just to be safe. It was a rough first 30 minutes after his crash. He knew who we both were, but did NOT remember racing on Saturday at all. He thought I was lying to him about racing, etc. Then he went into a Q/A repeat cycle. "Where did I crash?" I'd answer. "I don't remember the course at all." Pause. Grab his pocket, "My sunglasses!" "They're fine, they're in the truck." Pause. "Where did I crash?" Eventually he remembered where he crashed again, but still kept asking other questions.

He's actually on his way to his doc right now to make sure there won't be any lasting effects, especially since he's had a bad headache since the crash.

Have no fear, the physical pain is still there That, and his smashed knee from the first run that morning. :shakes head:

it is all pretty fuzzy, but i am pretty sure my line shifted left due to a strong gust before i got to the rocks, i do remember thinking "uh oh" (pg rated version) as soon as my tires left the ground and the wind ripped my bike to the left. i don't remember much else untill sitting talking to the paramedics. allison didn't call the paramedics, i don't think. she knows better. i wouldn't get in a loser cruiser unless i had bones on the outside of my body.

I'm sure what you went through was a scary experience. Actually, at the time, it was probably scarier for all those around you (especially Allison), since you weren't aware. I'm assuming you had a good helmet, since it's destruction obviously absorbed some energy. I actually feel good when I destroy a helmet in a crash (except for the fact that I have to buy a new helmet), and I'm glad it did its job.

Get better soon!

Umm....well...

I bet he'll have a headache!

From the sounds of it, he probably shouldn't be driving today.

Hey Justin hope it all goes well at the doctors and you feel better soon...I'm looking forward to riding with you guys soon.

Alison you're pretty calm..that's cool. I am always more nervous when it's someone else and not me.

I wasn't calm when he first couldn't remember anything!! I'm fine now. He's tough When all he had that lasted was a headache I figured there wasn't permanent damage. When I asked him about racing on Saturday and he was like, "What race? I didn't race." I was like and he was like

It's all good. Unfortunately I'll probably have to celebrate DST alone this evening!

it may be a little tough on that bike, but if you have good bike handling skills you should be able to do it. heck, i've seen guys DJ bikes race and one even had no front brake ..
