Default 12 hours of temecula

I know some of you have been doing the 6 hours of orange county, well the next step up would be the 12 hours of temecula.

They do a 3 race series and have lots of awards and special prizes at the end if you do all 3 races. Tons of fun. I did 2 in the 2006 year and I am doing all 3 next year.

First race is january 20th. So you can get a solid 8 weeks of training in starting tomorrow for the race. Anywhere from 1 to 5 man teams and you can do a 2 person open or 2 person coed. 3 to 5 man teams are all open.

12 Hours Of Temecula

Oh yeah, and they try to change the course up a little bit each race.

I did this race back in February. It was their first event but was still well organized and and a lot of fun. The course was really fast and fun, it was nothing like the 24hrs of O.C. which seemed like it was all climbing... I'm looking forward to doing this series next year too.

the february one is the only one i missed this year, but its nice to know that even the first one ever was very well organized. The race director is one of the nicest guys around. My buddies light went out on a night lap and he didn't have a back up or anything and the race director was out there making sure he was ok and getting him another light. Him and his family are the ones who all set up the course too.

I don't mind climbing. But when it's almost 100 degrees and it seems like the entire course is climbing, I guess I start to hate it. The Temecula course was fun b/c it had a little bit of everything and I like faster courses.

Very true. The Dragon's back at Temecula is much more fun than anything on the 6 hour course.

I too have done 2 of the 3 races from this year and they are a blast!
Jason and his family do a great job setting up, organizing and running the event.
The series is extremely family friendly and for being a "race", it sure doesn't have that Norba vibe that I have experienced at other events.
The course is pretty fast and not very technical but they do change the route each time, or try to, so that helps keep it fresh.
Finally it is perfect for a SS, the dam climb can get kind of long after multiple laps on a SS but the rest of the course is perfect for 1 gear.

Good to hear the feedback, 1x1Clyde. We're planning on doing a 3 man SS team for the series.

edit: That didn't read right...we're planning on racing in the 3 man SS category.

We now return you to your normally scheduled program.

I think there was only like 1 or 2 SS teams out there last year so as long as you are on a SS team you can just fool around the whole time and still make podium.

I will head down there to ride the course on almost any sunday, its a fun course, not too bad for climbing either. if you are doing ss there is like one or 2 hills that you are really gonna have to push up (and by push i hope you dont even think about pushing your bike while you walk next to it)

Wow, I'm not sure how I feel about that. Last month we did a 4 man category for the 24 Hours of Chamberlin Ranch and took first place for our age group. Out of one team. Since we didn't have any competition, I decided to do the race on the SS. 15 mile laps with a decent amount of climbing. The last lap was brutal due to leg cramps.

It was great because we didn't have any pressure, but since we didn't have any competition, we only felt like we were participants. Still had a blast, though.

Maybe we should organize a Sunday ride in the next few weeks?
Sauce, you'll love it on a SS. There are a few rough climbs but otherwise it flows on a SS.
I live out in Corona so let me know about heading out there.

Sounds good.
I live pretty much at the bottom of Skyline so not far from the 91/15 intersection.

RAAM if you're as fast in the dirt as you are one the asphalt, you're going to hurt a lot of people.
